  1. I use /qn on the downloaded exe and no need to extract anywhere or anything.Shows small popup that dissapears shortly...
  2. This is a windows warning.I think this was one of the "Application ..." services that made this annoying popup.I have it disabled and it´s much better. It used to popup constantly for SFX archives too.
  3. First option is a no-go.I use another program to mass install apps silently.Besides graphics driver should really work natevly.Second - you mean the catalog updates website?.Sorry but i have not gotten it to work at all lately both with IE9 and Firefox. Intresting.I will try this tho i won´t expect much luck.
  4. ****.I have a problem: Seems that due to Nvidia installer changes as of driver version 260.xx i can´t integrate any drivers newer than 259.xx to Win7 image. Tryed both DISM 7600 and 7601 - No luck.System starts in 256 colors and no driver installed.nv_disp folder just has the .inf file in it.Nothing more. Tryed RT7Lite - No luck.Program reports succesful integration and nv_disp contains all nessesary files but still no driver installed. Tryed to integrate copy of System32/drivers/DriverStore/nv_disp folder - No luck Tryed to unpack installer with UniExtract and integrating extracted files - No luck. So has anyone been able to integrate Nvidia 260.xx series drivers into Windows 7? Windows 7 SP1 RC x64 (ISO with SP1 RC integrated by MS) Nvidia Display Driver 260.99 RT7 Lite 2.4.0 Dism 7600/7601
  5. Did the image work normally when you tested it? Yes...I'm using it now. I went away from my desktop to watch television while the integration portion took place, but there were no errors, and the GUI was prompting me to proceed to RT7 Lite to continue. The system applet shows Service Pack 1, v.721. Edit: Well, it appears that maybe I don't have Wave1 after all. My x64 service pack is about 650mb, while the Microsoft download is 865mb. The sp I have is as follows: Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 RC x64 BUILD: 7601.17105.100929-1730 FILE: Windows6.1-KB976932-X64-INTL.exe SIZE: 644,616,752 byte SHA-1: B8E8935D782599B977D3D0FF15D8B3B539CA39C8 MD5: 59BA49FE307B89C20EBBE8D4C95622B0 CRC: 5329BB53 Yep thats the wave0 wave1 is: File: windows6.1-KB976932-X64.exe CRC-32: cffa8b1f MD4: 254092aa01e768d9df9243340b3bc6d2 MD5: a115921b050e72f118a1e1e1e649c992 SHA-1: 62d3f7a9410b6cd88139308d6934947bc33f868f
  6. Did the image work normally when you tested it? I also hear that ISO-s with SP1 integrated(by MS) should leak soon.
  7. Thank you, that's good to know. I think an "absolutely do not remove" thread would be helpful. For example, removing telephony results in not being able to activate Windows 7. Removing Windows Media Manager will render most media devices inoperative. The Viper service tweak for Software Protection, (delayed start, instead of automatic), will make Windows "think" it's not activated. Let's have everyone weigh in with their respective caveats and perhaps we can make a sticky with a list. Maybe edit this list?: http://www.rtwincust...ed-recommended/ Lately i have had idea that i won´t simply remove anything else other than languages and drivers. It simply takes too much time to troubleshoot and test if i really wan´t to remove other things and in the end i might find some nasty suprise again(meaning something is not working/missing).
  8. Hi.I have tried to create a good Win7 image these past few days but i keep running into some repetetive problems. These are: *Input language wrong. The keyboard, input language etc are all wrong despite that i have set them to my language(Estonian et-EE).See attached lastsession.infi and autounattend.xml *Windows features still shows DVD Maker and Media Center despite them being removed. When i try to enable them i get an error message as expected. At the same time when Games are removed they also dissapear from the optional features list as selectables. *Problem with installing my scanner(Canon MP110).I read last few pages and looks like i have to keep some components.Anyway take a look at the .inf and offer your opinions.Symptoms are that windows gets into a loop when trying to install scanner drivers: *Anyone knows how to set action center icon to be hidden by default in systray?.Im thinking the setting is stored somewhere in registry maybe? *Also seems my custom batch file did not run properly.Basicly it calls for several .reg imports: reg import "D:\Windows 7\Registry Settings\Delete Libraries.reg" reg import "D:\Windows 7\Registry Settings\Remove Unneeded New Context Menu Items.reg" reg import "D:\Windows 7\Registry Settings\Remove Favorites From Nav Pane.reg" reg import "D:\Windows 7\Registry Settings\Remove Network From Nav Pane.reg" reg import "D:\Windows 7\Registry Settings\KB980408 Fix.reg" reg import "D:\Windows 7\Registry Settings\Remove Shortcut Arrow.reg" reg import "D:\Windows 7\Registry Settings\Reset Notification Icons List.reg" reg import "D:\Windows 7\Registry Settings\5ms_Mouse_Hover_Time.reg" reg import "D:\Windows 7\Registry Settings\Calculator.reg" reg import "D:\Windows 7\Registry Settings\CMD.reg" reg import "D:\Windows 7\Registry Settings\CTRL+ALT+DEL Cleanup.reg" reg import "D:\Windows 7\Registry Settings\Darker LogOn Text Shadow.reg" reg import "D:\Windows 7\Registry Settings\Disable IPv6.reg" reg import "D:\Windows 7\Registry Settings\Filetypes.reg" reg import "D:\Windows 7\Registry Settings\Install Drivers From.reg" reg import "D:\Windows 7\Registry Settings\LangPack Path.reg" reg import "D:\Windows 7\Registry Settings\Max3DWindows.reg" reg import "D:\Windows 7\Registry Settings\Memory Management.reg" reg import "D:\Windows 7\Registry Settings\Mouse.reg" reg import "D:\Windows 7\Registry Settings\No open with internet.reg" reg import "D:\Windows 7\Registry Settings\No WU Autorestart.reg" reg import "D:\Windows 7\Registry Settings\NoDiskChecks.reg" reg import "D:\Windows 7\Registry Settings\StartMenu.reg" reg import "D:\Windows 7\Registry Settings\Image Thumbnails.reg" reg import "D:\Windows 7\Registry Settings\Video Thumbnails.reg" reg import "D:\Windows 7\Registry Settings\Window Sizes.reg" reg import "D:\Windows 7\Registry Settings\Yukon Settings.reg" reg import "D:\Windows 7\Hacks;Cracks;Commands\Delete Default Cursors.reg" reg import "D:\Windows 7\Hacks;Cracks;Commands\WMP_x64.reg" reg import "D:\Windows 7\Drivers\Nvidia NF 5.9 64bit PerfPack\optional_for_Vista_64bit_nF_IDE_drivers_9xx_and_10xxxx.reg" reg import "D:\Windows 7\Hacks;Cracks;Commands\Delete SuperHidden Warning.reg" reg import "D:\Windows 7\Registry Settings\Notepad.reg" reg import "D:\Windows 7\Registry Settings\WMP12.reg" reg import "D:\Windows 7\Registry Settings\Wordpad.reg" reg import "D:\Windows 7\Registry Settings\Paint.reg" reg import "D:\Windows 7\Registry Settings\Photo Acquisition Settings.reg" reg import "D:\Windows 7\Registry Settings\Snipping Tool.reg" reg import "D:\Windows 7\Registry Settings\Sticky Notes.reg" reg import "D:\Windows 7\Registry Settings\Regedit.reg" reg import "D:\Windows 7\Registry Settings\MozillaPlugins.reg" I also have a suggestion: *Add option to set preferred power plan. For example this can be done via autounattend.xml.This particular one sets High Performance mode instead of the default Balanced. The value is a GUID sequence and there are 3 of them. Can't bother checking the other two at this moment. <component name="Microsoft-Windows-powercpl" processorArchitecture="amd64" publicKeyToken="31bf3856ad364e35" language="neutral" versionScope="nonSxS" xmlns:wcm="http://schemas.microsoft.com/WMIConfig/2002/State" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"> <PreferredPlan>458ed666-2904-458b-80b5-78fe0bd81f1a</PreferredPlan> </component> Few questions too: *Difference between integrating drivers into install or boot.wim? *Unable to add protected files in sys32.(discussed in last pages). Anyway here are the attached files: Lastsession6.inf Autounattend.xml
  9. Actually i just remembered i can't just integrate Nvidia drivers in the regular fashion. I must first install them and grab all files from "C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\nv_disp.inf_amd64_neutral_xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx"
  10. Not sure about Razer drivers as i own Logitech mouse but ACPI and Nvidia drivers integrate just fine for me as do all my other drivers.
  11. Ha.Integrated SP1 with 2.3.0 and then integrated languagepack that is not supported by wave0 SP1 that i integrated.Luckly it didn't corrupt the image. It even reported that i have this language pack installed when i tried manual install on a running image.Just missed the place to switch language. Just FYI.
  12. If you have removed disk controller drivers and not integrated your own then this is what happens.
  13. Question about build 2.2.0: v.178 Windows 7 SP1 is Wave0 meaning it supports only 5 languages. Due to this i can't install any language pack that isn't in any of those 5 languages on a SP1 system and can't install SP1 on a system that has one such LP installed. So the question arises:if i integrate both the LP and SP1 with RT 7 Lite - will the image boot and work correctly? Or does RT 7 Lite prevent the conflict from happening? If someone here has an Win7 image with SP1(v178) and not one of these LP-s(English (US), French, German, Japanese, or Spanish (Traditional) working correctly then let me know
  14. I was under the impression that unlike Vista SP0 and SP1 - The Vista SP2 and Windows 7 do not have the TCP connection limit. Am i wrong? This article says that Vista SP2 and Win7 are unlimited: http://www.mydigitallife.info/2009/06/07/half-open-outbound-tcp-connections-limit-removed-in-windows-7-and-vista-sp2-no-patch-required/
  15. I think 2011 is a rather conservative launch window.I'm pretty sure if no major issues arise we will see SP1 before the end of this year, despite what MS is saying. Currently it's at Beta stage yes
  16. Yes: <UserAccounts> <LocalAccounts> <LocalAccount wcm:action="add"> <Password> <PlainText>False</PlainText> <Value>UABhAHMAcwB3AG8AcgBkAA==</Value> </Password> <Group>Administrators</Group> <DisplayName>MyName</DisplayName> <Name>MyName</Name> </LocalAccount> </LocalAccounts> </UserAccounts> This adds administrator account with blank password. You must run this after install to prevent password expiration: net accounts /maxpwage:unlimited
  17. Integrating it is tricky problably even on the best of circumstances. And you defentely have to do the integration with an untouched ISO.Who knows what compatability issues arise when trying ti integrate SP1 into a image that has many components removed. Currently the only way is reverse integration.Google it if you want more info. I have already seen more than few ISO-s floating around that have SP1 v.178 integrated in this way.
  18. @ 1-st question - watch 1 post up.Hopefullly soon because SP1 Beta has already been leaked. @ 2-nd question - it can problably do it already.Besides SP1 adds very few features(most of them on Server R2 side) so i see no reason why it should not work...
  19. I see you removed Nvidia/ATI drivers. Can you run other 3D stuff? Also maybe program compability assistant service is needed?
  20. Live Messenger is working for me. The ones with Green i have disabled or they run manually.Im pretty sure these are not needed for WLM The Orange one could cause problems for WLM if its removed The Red ones i have enabled always
  21. Why is this not a good idea? If a driver is signed then this flag is ignored. If a driver in unsinged then you would get a popup during your unattended installation if the driver was not integrated with the /ForceUnsigned flag Granted if you have 1 or 2 of these then its not a problem. But lets talk when you have 60+ pupups during install and you have to manually accept them before install continues. This used to be a major problem for me during the Vista era because i didnt know about the flag. But still even 1 of these popups would halt the unattended install. Tomorrow, like a lot of other things, people are going to disagree on these types of checks. I think unsigned drivers are not a good idea. The signing was put in by MS to offer some protection against problems. Some people turn off SFC and DEP, but that sounds dangerous to me. I understand your many pop-up during install concern and would avoid that with the application of /ForceUnsigned switch as needed, not on all drivers. Only one of my 8 drivers is unsigned. I am also leaning on the RAID vendor to provide a signed driver. I suspect RT7Lite turns off SFC and sets the Uxtheme patch, but have not seen this spelled out and don't see the options anywhere. Options are provided in nLite, what I am used to using. Thanks for your reply. Enjoy, John. Signed driver does not automatically mean it's of higher quality than the unsigned one.I've had problems with WHQL drivers whereas the BETA driver have not exhibited the same problem. And sometimes the WHQL is 1:1 with BETA exept it has digital MS certificate. No other differences at all. I turn off DEP too.It causes instability with Firefox and some other programs and sometimes prevents programs from running normally.Besides its not much help against viruses etc.For that everyone uses AV anyway. Besides i have some hardware that is simply too old and naturally doesent have WHQL drivers. So i either disable checks or live with unusable piece of hardware?.I think i rather do the first.

  23. *You can add this to Autounattend.xml afterwards to create a custom(1 on more) user accounts with passwords or blank passwords on first logon: <UserAccounts> <LocalAccounts> <LocalAccount wcm:action="add"> <Password> <PlainText>False</PlainText> <Value>UABhAHMAcwB3AG8AcgBkAA==</Value> </Password> <Group>Administrators</Group> <DisplayName>User 1</DisplayName> <Name>User 1</Name> </LocalAccount> </LocalAccounts> </UserAccounts> Maybe Ben could add this feature to Unattended section? The sample in this post creates a new Administrator class user with black password. Note that you have to run the following command when installing with blank passwords to prevent password expiration. No hurry tho.I think it was 30+ days after install: net accounts /maxpwage:unlimited Regarding NetBIOS - this service can be configured from Tweaks-Services.
  24. The size reduction is very impressive .Personally i would be satisfied with a 1-1,5GB ISO like i had with vlite when i was tweaking Vista, but even more extreme?.Why not.Perfect for bechmarking gurus. Sorry i havent been able to betatest lately.I've had troble with my videocard here and fed up with lot of work too.
