  1. Not sure if this belongs here or in the networking section. I currently running Win Server 08 x64 SP2 1 NIC. I have running inside of it a Windows XP VM SP2 via Hyper-V. The issue I am having is, it is taking 4-6 seconds to copy a 10MB file from the VM to the server. I have tried both legacy network adapters and regular network adapters. I am only having this issue with the VM's all other computers can copy data to the server atleast 60MB/s. Any ideas?
  2. I got the RSAT package installed and it shows a lot of new snapins but no hyper-v, not even after an uninstall/reinstall
  3. I couldn't get it to work with SP1 either. I can go into "Programs and Features" and look at Installed updates and the update "Hyper-V Management Clients for Vista SP1 (952627)" is listed, but no snap in is available in my Admin Tools.
  4. Has anyone here had any luck installing the Hyper-V management tool on their Vista machine? I am running Vista Home Premium SP2. It says that it installs correctly but the Hyper-V snapin isn't available.
  5. OK I'M AT MY WHITS END!!! I have been working on this VM that is running in VMWare player. The host OS is WinXP and the guest is Win98SE. My problem is that the win98 computer does not like the driver for the vlance NIC at all. Every time I try to install the driver, the computer crashes on reboot. I have tried the e1000 and the vmxnet network adapters but 98 doesn't have drivers for them on the win98 cd. Anyone have an idea of where I can get a driver for one of the other adapters or how to get the VM to take the vlance driver?
  6. I have been trying to figure this one out and I have looked all over the place and can't find a solution to this. Let's say I have several different folders in C:\images. The folders in this directory are as follows SR23 SR23 2006 SR54 SR54 2006 US98 US98 2006 Is there a way to write a batch file with wild cards to only copy the folders that have the 2006 in the folder name using xcopy?
  7. Well, I have found some software that will clone a dynamic disk. It's called HDClone. My problem is now this. With HDClone, I can do a drive to drive clone to a new hard drive and the computer will boot with the new drive. However, when I try to do a partition to partition clone to a larger partition for the "C" drive the computer will not boot at all. Do you have any recomendations for me? Is it the MBR or what?
  8. Gicio Did you happen to find a solution to this problem? I have the same problem with the last Admin set the "C" drive to only 10GB with RAID1 dynamic disks.
  9. Thanks for the info, I'll have to keep this in mind. What I have decided to do is run a virtual Windows Home Server on a Server 08 box which will automatically backup all of my client pc's completely every night.
  10. you would have to go in and edit the Local Security Policy. Go to run and typy in gpedit.msc and that will bring up the editor.
  11. I have inherited the responsibilities of the network at my church. The previous admin set up all of the computers on the LAN to log into the computer instead of the domain (which I found out that he was having problems with Windows Firewall on the 03 server and couldn't get them to log on.) So, on to my problem. He had set all of the users "My Documents" paths to look onto a shared folder on the server and only that person has access to that folder. I have already gone into the properties of My Computer -> Advanced -> User Profile Settings and copied the settings from the computer\user to domain\user. Now, my problem is that when that I log on as that user on the domain (which has domain\user permissions) none of those settings are set the way they should be but if I add the user to be a domain\admin the settings take affect like they should. I think it might be a registry permissions issue because the settings in the reg are not correct when the user only has domain\user permissions but is correct when the user is added to domain\admins. Can anyone help me?
  12. I was kind of having the same problems untill I manually changed the DNS server settings on the client pc'c to point to the DNS Server.
  13. Is there a way from within Server 08 to backup the Doc and Settings folder on each client pc on a network? Or, is there a good cheap 3rd party app that will do it? I'm trying to keep from doing it on every pc if possible.
  14. That's kind of the problem, we are the people who have designed the software, but when I ask the people who do the programming how to find out which cards will run OpenGL better than others, all they can tell me is to do a Google search fore some bench marks on different cards. I can't seem to find a site that gives OpenGL bench marks on the cards I'm looking at.
  15. Our company uses software that runs on OpenGL. Is there a way to see what cards run OpenGL better than others? The reason I am asking is, I have seen cards that say that they support OpenGL 2.0 but I will have to slow down the hardware acceleration to about half to get the card to display correctly, which slowes down performance BIG TIME. One example of a card I am having trouble with is the ATI Mobility Radeon HD2600.
  16. Is your moden set up with DHCP? or, are you able to configure it at all?
  17. Our office uses a web proxy for our internet usage, which I am in charge of keeping up with. What web address do I need to add to allow for iTunes radio to work through the proxy? I can get the store to work but not iTunes radio. Any ideas?
  18. Does anyone know if there are any monitors out there, wheather it be LCD or plasma that will have a true refresh rate of at least 100 Hz? I know that most CRT moniters will do at least that but they are getting harder to come by. They need to do 100 Hz because we use 3D imagery and we use stereoscopic glasses to see it.
  19. I want to share a folder on my computer on my LAN. I have disabled Simple File sharing to allow different permissions for different users. Our network is not part of a domain but a simple workgroup. Do I have to create user accounts on my computer before they can be added to my permissions list?
  20. Well, all of a suden it started showing the workgroups again No idea how, I didn't change anything.
