  1. Thats interesting. For blocking in the HOSTS file I use the program named Destroy Windows Antispyware which adds a some domains to it. You said you have your own lists with a ton of blocked things but... How do you do this? I mean, you dont add them manually, right? It has to be some sort of automation. About the services, my original question, I ended up going to Black Viper's web, which I thought it was offline but for some reason my DNS servers couldnt access it so I used google's temporally. Since there is no program I ended up making a couple of regs copying his lists in excel and some work. The only problem is that you cant just import them in regedit since it needs some special permissions.
  2. For win7 existed the web of Black Viper which had an useful list of services that could be disabled. Even one guy made this awesome program that applied those configurations. Is there any list (with its reg file) or software that has predetermined list to disable services for windows 10? Thanks you
  3. I find that driver genius has a very simple and clear UI and I really like this thing in programs. Also it has a clean feature for old drivers. I tried slim drivers, driver booster, driver talent, driver pack and something else I cant remember. Slim drivers has too much advertising and its ui is confusing, not user friendly and, idk, not very professional for me. I think that the product is at the same level of the ui, as an overall thought. Driver talent doesnt let you install drivers if you dont buy it, rendering it pretty much useless, and making in portable is a pain too since it installs services even if you only start the main .exe. Driver pack is full of s***. Its so d*** automatic that it doesnt let you choose and install winrar, opera, etc and when its finished then it lets you "choose". Until now driver booster seems the way to go. The free version lets you to autoinstall the drivers and update them but it seems that the download speed is capped. I am actually willing to pay for a program, the problem is that these ones have lcenses which limit the usage on a number of pcs and that goes against my needs which is to plug an usb, install/update drivers, unplug usb. Also a portable version would be wonderful. I know i can make it portable by copying the program files but if the dev could ensure that its a portable version and that it will work, that would be perfect.
  4. Hi, Im looking for a free alternative to driver genius. Something that I can keep in my usb, plug it, search for drivers, install and unplug. I have tried several ones but none of them convince me. Could you help me? Thanks
  5. Hi, As far as I know it was easily possible in office 2013, just unziping the updates and placing them in the updates folder in the installation folder. However it seems that in 2016 it doesnt work that way. Is possible to slipstream the updates in office 2016? I downloaded them with WHDownloader. I also use Office 2013-2016 C2R install and I have noticed that I can download an updated installation. If I use that instalation, I suppose then that it include the latest updates? For example, I downloaded the version 16.0.6366.2068, will it include the updates that were released yesterday? Thanks
  6. I think that you are mixing the windows 10 core version with the single language version. Both are different versions.
  7. thanks both for your answers. it wasnt the answer i was expecting but i suppose that if there isnt anything better i will use this. about making rar archives, i dont want to use this method, i dont find it useful for me to have different versions of the same file. i just want to have a copy of these folders in another place to not losing them in case of HDD/SSD death. the batch of jumper seems more adequate for my needs. however i would like that it also removed the files that I removed in the original folder too, to not have a huge mess of duplicate files because of name changes or directly files that i dont want.
  8. Hi, This is ntlited version of windows 7 x64 home premium with all WHD updates, but i only remember having deleted unneded things, however i could have messed up. The problem is that i cant create any kind of virtual drives. By "any kind" i mean that i have tried daemon tools, alcohol 52, alcohol 120, and a couple more that i dont remember their names. All of them seemes to "think" that they created the virtual drives, but in the end they didnt appear in the computer or in their own "window" (the program). Can you help me, please? Thanks you
  9. Hi, Im searching for a program to backup folders and I come here to ask you, since the ones I tried werent very friendly. I have a SSD (windows partition and data partition) and a HDD (data partition) and I want to backup this: - my personal folder in SSD to a folder in the HDD (important data) - my drivers folder in SSD to a backup in the HDD - windows documents folder in SSD to a backup in HDD (this is to stop losing savegames...) The requisites of the program are that it doenst create any file in those folders to "remember" them (ANNOYING) and that it is self contained in its own folder, without needing the registry or some weird files in appdata or users or whatever other folder. Thanks you
  10. sorry, had to do it. my job here is done.
  11. Thanks Tripredacus, that clarified it! Edit: i opened now a win 10 home with ntlite and it says home and core at same time, so this is the proof. I asked before downloading because in win8 wasnt this way, home and core were "different", at least they were labeled differently.
  12. Hi, I have seen that there is a core version, not the "IoT core", that seems to come with the professional version, just like in windows 8. However I dont find the differences between this and the home edition. Usually there is a comparison between home, pro, enterprise, etc, but core is never there. It seems that its not the same as the home version, since nt lite detects each other being different. So, which is the difference? I want to start with the lightest system to remove components and make a fast computer, but I also dont want to lose functionality for the things I need, which arent very special, the normal ones, internet, games, office, maybe some specific program like matlab, autocad, etc. Thanks
  13. Hi, I want to import this registry key but it says that some keys are open or I dont have enough permission. This registry key is basically the Black Viper's configuration for disabling services, in a .reg file. I want it to be imported at windows installation, I dont know if it will work there, but I want to test it in live first. I already have tried to start in safe mode and the built in administrator. Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00; Disable[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\AppMgmt]"Start"=dword:00000004[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\bthserv]"Start"=dword:00000004[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\PeerDistSvc]"Start"=dword:00000004[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\CertPropSvc]"Start"=dword:00000004[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\NfsClnt]"Start"=dword:00000004[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\TrkWks]"Start"=dword:00000004[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\WPCSvc]"Start"=dword:00000004[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\vmickvpexchange]"Start"=dword:00000004[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\vmicguestinterface]"Start"=dword:00000004[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\vmicshutdown]"Start"=dword:00000004[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\vmicheartbeat]"Start"=dword:00000004[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\vmicrdv]"Start"=dword:00000004[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\vmictimesync]"Start"=dword:00000004[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\vmicvss]"Start"=dword:00000004[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\IEEtwCollectorService]"Start"=dword:00000004[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\iphlpsvc]"Start"=dword:00000004[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\MSiSCSI]"Start"=dword:00000004[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\NetTcpPortSharing]"Start"=dword:00000004[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\Netlogon]"Start"=dword:00000004[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\napagent]"Start"=dword:00000004[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\CscService]"Start"=dword:00000004[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\RpcLocator]"Start"=dword:00000004[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\SensrSvc]"Start"=dword:00000004[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\ScDeviceEnum]"Start"=dword:00000004[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\SCPolicySvc]"Start"=dword:00000004[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\SNMPTRAP]"Start"=dword:00000004[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\StorSvc]"Start"=dword:00000004[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\WbioSrvc]"Start"=dword:00000004[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\wcncsvc]"Start"=dword:00000004[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\lfsvc]"Start"=dword:00000004[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\WMPNetworkSvc]"Start"=dword:00000004
  14. hey, it always bothered me that I have to click in "all programs" button, instead of start it there already (for me its always blank the first start menus screen, I have disabled to remember the most used programs). Is possible to do this with this program? If not, could you include this option? Thanks
  15. Im trying Windows 8.1 and it actually consumes low RAM, something like Windows 7. Maybe with several tweaks I can make it consume even less. However the SMART utility you posted isnt designed for windows 8. Do you know a similar utility like this for Win 8? And also a question. The tiles in windows 8, even if you use the normal desktop, do they consume resources for being at the background? If so, can you link me a tutorial to disable them? Many thanks
  16. I will try but I have doubts. Is windows 8.1 overall faster than 7?
  17. These are the results of RAM usage in virtualbox: - POSready 7 x32: 403 MB - POSready 7 SMART moderate x32: 368 MB - 7x32: 336 MB - 7x32 ntlited: 340 MB - 7x32 ntlited SMART moderate; 344 MB - 7x64: 428 MB - 7x64 ntlited updates: 435 MB - 7x64 ntlited updates SMART moderate; 346 MB I removed only safe things with ntlite, so it could explain why there is no significant difference with the normal version. All Windows 7 are the Home Premium edition. Updates means integrating all updates from WHDownloader (general, hotfixes and security), it makes the installation to increase by about 5GB and the installation takes way more time. Conclusion: - Its actually surprising that the POSready 7 uses more RAM than the normal version. - The x32 is slighlty better over the x64 to computers with low resources. - The x64 version gets a huge 100 MB boost using the SMART utility, opposed at the about 10 MB boost from the x32 version (maybe influenced by the updates, not sure though). Still, 300 MB is too much for the computer where I want to install it. Not because of the processor or the RAM, but because the laptop HDD is VERY VERY slow, its not like a desktop one, and has to load, not just the 300 MB but more things during the start. At this point I consider Windows updates (the service and downloading) disposable, it would only hinder the performance by a lot. So… I would appreciate help in the matter, if its even possible. If it isnt, then I will have to install Windows XP, though I would like to avoid that. Thanks for reading
  18. Im trying the smart utility but I dont want to use the "moderate" settings since it says for advanced users. Im testing what to install in the laptop i said, with a hdd at 5.400rpm and so far every windows I have tried (7 x64 nlite, 7 x64 and posready 7 x32) are all above 400mb of ram. The main problem is that it has to load all of this at start and makes it very slow. I still have to try 7 x32 with ntlite and the smart utility though I have not much faith. I think I will have to stick to windows xp... Though I would like a solution to use windows 7. Ill post the results of the virtual box installations I have done.
  19. I installed W7 in a Core 2 Duo 2GHz and 2GB of RAM and Im surprised on how slow it is. Since I had no choice I decided to isntall a nlited Windows XP Sp3 with an updatepack and the result is a fast system. Then I was wondering if it is possible to create a fast Windows 7, but being still usable for the average home user (internet, office, games). I tried ntlite but its just not enough. In fact, instead of not enough is the reverse thing. Windows XP with removed components and added updates grows nothing, its about 1GB installed and fast as hell. W7 with all the updates and removed components grows from 6GB to 10GB and its even slower. So, anyone can provide a list of services that can be safely disabled? A list of components of ntlite would be perfect too, since I dont have the knowledge necessary to do that. I also was thinking in using maybe an alternative system like embedded windows, though the problems may be the same. Thanks
  20. Hi, In the past I used WUD but now I see that there are no updated list so I need another program. Im searching for something similar to this. I tried WSUS Offline but I dont like it that doesnt show which updates its going to download, or even where, or even if I already have those updates... The most similar I found is WHDownloader but for some reason it doesnt recognize already downloaded updates... And Im not going to download ALL of them again each time. I tried anohter one similar to WSUS, the reasons are the same. So... Is there any program like this? Or maybe a "non official" updated list for WUD? Thanks

    nLite 1.4.9.3

Could you please upload to your site a portable version of nlite? Just a ziped one without installer.
  22. Could you please include an updated translation for the spanish language? Here is it: http://adf.ly/1713566/esplang Source: http://www.wincert.net/forum/topic/7972-solucionado-quien-puede-actualizar-la-traduccion-de-nlite/
  23. Well, we will should put all route in the installer command "%source%\install\installit.exe"... And the most important, password changed!!!
  24. Great replies! I solved the dll problem replacing that on the updatepack not in windows source. The last inconvenient to make my iso is the runonceex. I wrotte this on nlite: [GuiRunOnce] %SOURCE%Install\Install.bat The batch file starts: @ECHO OFF cd %SOURCE%Install @ECHO Instalando... @ECHO. @ECHO .Net Framework 2 start /wait dotnet2.exe @ECHO Terminado @ECHO. @ECHO 7zip 9.04 start /wait 7z904.msi /passive @ECHO Terminado @ECHO. [...] But it cannot find those installers. At starts I wrotte %SOURCE%\Install but I read that "\" are included on %SOURCE%, then I do not know what to do.
