You start from a fresh install/source, end of story.

CCCP (aka a tard pack including outdated ffdshow builds) + WMP or VLC? Cuz i recommend it for VLC... your such a genius! I can understand that you choose it for apple trailers/streams. And VLC is for? I mean your such a genius!

Yay~ for broken English~ Anyways, if you really want to stay with FAT32. I'd suggest you move back to XP.

Seems like Nvidia rolled out 2 (4 if you count the architectures) beta drivers for Vista and XP last week. You can find these here for x64 and x86. I hope that these drivers fix the unending BSODs... I'm trying the x64 atm, and I will see under the week how it turns out, as for you others.. good luck!

1. Use spaces, it might help some... 2. What's your CPU like? Are you using some BS Celeron/AMD, and what's your ram, 256mb or less? As in the "complete installation" or during the setup? If it's during the setup then I recommend that you switch over DVD's. The aren't that expensive and if your running running the x64 architecture, then I'm sure that you can afford a DVD that costs less than a euro/dollar these days (I'm still amazed that empty/RAW CD's are still in production, excluding those used for Audio)Running a emulated Win OS on a Win based machine, and the compiled version of QEMU for Windows hasn't even reached v.1. So don't expect it to be going smooth either. I recommend that you try VMware (or Virtual PC for free) Seems like your app is having problems with the conversion of your current RAM for the emulated OS. So either get more RAM 1gb+ if your gonna have 2 OS's running (having the same running speccs for both) And if that's not the case, simply wait for another release or switch over to one of those emulators I recommended a couple of lines up ahead.

Just wondering but.. did SP3 add .NET framework 3.0/3.5 or? Or does it come with with the standard 1.0/1.5 or was it 2.0?

Seems like PkgMgr is taking a lot of resources. I got 2GB of RAM @ 1gz or so. Should I get another set of 2 gig? cuz it's eating away all of it.... I know that the sticks are cheap, I'm just lazy getting out and getting the ones I want. Oh and I was wondering the integration time would be improved if I went from 2 -> 4GB of RAM? About 90min have past by already...

Why are you installing all of those codecs if you're just going to use VLC? VLC uses internal codecs Cuz' the more the merrier! Anyways I'd recommend only to install VLC or switch to MPC with ffdshow as DSC/F. And ffdshow supports your Real whatever audio/video they now have. VLC works without any hassle on x64 (although I personally hate VLC) Internet Explorer 8.0 BETA is awesome if your also using 2 different web browsers (inc FF). So 2 thumbs up for you. (*cough* *cough* sarcasm *cough*). You have the option to permanently remove IE, did you even know that? Anyways, I have nothing more to say than: The more the merrier! (sarcasm)

It came to my mind that nuhi finally disabled the lock for the manual SP1 integration, but whats the catch? 1. You don't have to buy the Retail SP1 once it hit's all stores/countries worldwide. Yea, we know all about it. 2. You can still use your RTM key instead of getting a new one? Is it really true? Cuz that would save a couple (erhm... a lot for some ^^) of bucks. 3. Would there be any difference compared to the one already released for MSDN, technet and most local/retail stores for it's 5 main languages? 4. What can you gain from using this feature, including what vLite already has to offer? And that's about it. If anyone got any hints, leave a reply, thanks!

This "torrentz" trash talk is leading to something els... Anyways OSS often have DDL links or am I wrong? I know that OSS is now slowly using torrent trackers for distro, but the fact that your referring to "that" is just lame. Oh and btw, OSS trackers often have flexible 100mbit/10mbit affilis. Just look at Ubunto for example. So what's the point in having a TCPIP patch, unless your not gonna use it for something good or legal?

So after been using Vista for almost 6 months, I still find it annoying that I always see the "search bar" found in the "start menu" and cannot seem to remove it. And that in fact that I cannot shrink the size of the "menu bar" itself: I was wondering if this was some M$ bug or perhaps an offside effect cuz of vLite (which I doubt) I know that you could adjust this in XP, were you could make it drop down to being able to "not showing" any programs all. I assume that this is an intended bug, due to the fact that we have the option to switch the "placeholders" for programs (so if you could adjust this to zero, the 2nd placeholder would look awkward as you can imagine). So I was wondering if there existed some reg tweak which could bypass this and perhaps make it look like the good ol' XP layout? But then again, we have the option to change the default prog view but cannot seem to be able to adjust it... I wonder why? My second question would be if there's any way to use custom visual styles/themes/skins for Vista? I've seen some and tried to use em with tools such as VistaGlazz or TuneUp Utilities, first of all I never saw anything mentioning not being usable on x64, but I ended up with a corrupt uxtheme whatever file which led me to some critical moments that I wish I could regret. Anyways, I'm asking the experts if there's any way to patch vista in some way without using WBlinds so that custom visual styles/ would usable? I figured out this part on my own after some deep google (inc some forums) searching, and my problem was cuz i had SP1. Oh and this isn't cuz of any RAM issues or anything like that. I just wanna be able to customize the start menu a little bit. And that's about it, cheers~

My Installation w/o most languages except Japanese, is 4.2gb. I've removed most things that people still keep, like the Media "addons" (software) what comes with Vista. Other things are such as IE and the mail "whatever it's called" software. But then again, I removed most drivers since I don't use a printer/scanner and the same goes for most hardware brands. But I will probably remove the gadget thingie next install, as it proved to be useless (I only wanted to try it out ^^). My goal is to make Vista as Slim as possible without making it to unbearable. I want the graphical enhancements w/o using WB or OD, but I can probably forget that ^^

So can I active it with my old retail vista key, or do I have to purchase a copy digitally/via my local store in order to active it?

You mean the one built in? I assume it installs eveything els that the native wmp codec pack hasn't. If not, then it's just a full load of BS unless the decoders can handle their tasks faster. Like any native "wmp codec" pack it comes with wmv decoding/filetype (container) support and MPEG2 support, unless that's built in with "most" players? I think they actually added XviD/DivX and possibly H.264 (but I doubt it) decoding support, but I could be wrong. For those that still haven't learned their lesson: There exists both filetypes/containers and video codecs for example WMV/DivX and H.264 (being raw/uncompressed in this case) There is a difference on filetypes and containers. I suggest you wiki/google (try doom9) it up for you own concern.

Yes, since I use ffdshow, cuz of less cpu throttling etc.

I don't use WMP nor IE, I hardly ever watch streaming stuff (as in wmv streams) on the net, and if im not watch video steams, I have another solution which I still haven't used, it' the active-x whatever plugin so you can watch wmv streams on FF. Second, most streams (as in flash built in players with another codec)) that I have encountered only requires adobe's and nothing els. And what has it to do with gaming at all? Give me some examples here... I removed WMP for good, like early 2003 and it has stayed like that ever since.

I checked the local shop (were I work at) and another one which I frequently visit, and it seems that are no news about SP1. So when can we exspect SP1 (x64) to be out on the market for everyone? I know I didn't make myself self clear on the first post, but I'm eagerly waiting for this release so I can make another vLited version, apart from my Retail one. But as it seems that people have or haven't gotten their hands on it, perhaps in the States? Or will this be some kind of worldwide release? I will now bring up the question once more: Just how different will the SP1 (pre-integrated) be, compared to the Retail/OEM ones? Just how much will we be able to remove/tweak? Will it be the same, or will this be something completely different?

Now why would I want an "outdated" Vista for X86 architectures? If you can't handle or can't afford new hardware, why not go back to XP, unless you only there for "new and improved" performance (barely) and security updates. I'm just curious, not trying to be offending even if may have sounded like that. Besides, I should have noted that I was only interested in the x64 architecture, not x86...

Vista Business and Enterprise have already been released with SP1 integrated on the Volume Licensing program. Both were available at the same time as the released the SP1 stand-alone update. As I couldn't just run the stand-alone SP1 update on my present vlited setup, I'm not sure I will vlite the integrated SP1, as I do not want to run into the same problem of being unable to install future Window Vista updates. I see, thanks for the tip. Now we just gotta wait for Ultimate and perhaps nuhi might give us a chance to fiddle with it, once Ultimate with SP1 goes gold. And since SP2 have been is or have been rumored to have the same problem as SP1 had, perhaps we might be able to skip that problem by not being able to update vLited Vista's with SP1. I hope for the best.

I've searched around the forums for any answer/solution, but didn't find any unless I accidentally searched els were. I was wondering "if and when" MS was planning to release their "pre-integrated" SP1 Vista. I assume that we cannot expect it before Q3 or so. What I meant was like for example with XP SP2 being a release "candidate" in stores, as for Gold and SP1 were long gone replaced by SP2 "of course". Now here's the main question: When we can get our hands on this Vista release (with SP1 integrated), how will vLite work around this? I assume nuhi will make another release when the time comes. but as for those new, unless I heard wrong that only a minor (exluding numerous "junk" hotfixes being integrated within this Service Pack) updates, like performance upgrades and such. How will vLite work around this, when most hotfixes now gets integrated within the System itself, like for example IE updates and so on, when were supposed to be able to remove these. I know that this is almost actually the same case, like when SP1 came out for XP (before, you know when "we" had integrate it "manually") But since Vista SP1 is the first, (unless I may have misread it) Service Pack what isn't slip-streamable, unless you reverse engineer it and go around the "other solution". How will this work out? But then again once SP1 becomes available through stores meaning that it's had it's public release (not the exeutable, but the one integrated into Vista, duh!) I assume nuhi and everyone who know what their best at, will figure out the rest or am I wrong?

So after some countless hotfixes, I suddenly started to get random BSODs. I forgot to turn off the auto update once, not sure but most updates before feb 2 were downloaded and installed. I got Vista RTM (got it from my PC store, were I work). Might it be that some minor hotfixes might be troubled cuz of the components that I have removed? I haven't had any problems prior to vLite 1.1 beta 2. SO I assume that my OS got troubled when I accidentally removed some new components on 1.1 final, unless it may be something els. As I noted earlier, this started happening after a big update of hotfixes. I get BSODs randomly, starting Firefox, visiting a page (as in loading it up). Starting any app, this shifts from 1-3 BSODs a day. Might it be that my HDD is dieing? Edit: I usually only download the hotfixes that I need. Don't have IE, WMP nor OE.

Manual Install means that you can install ("upgrade" Windows) within (as in virtually mounting the image or running the setup via cd/dvd-rom) another Win OS (ex: from Xp>Vista) that way you don't need to format your partition every time. Most people skip/remove this part and use VMWare (or other similar tools) or another PC for testing purposes. Removing the manual install process saves you some megs. I'm not sure if you can upgrade Vista from 2k but from Xp if works definitely.

I got my vLited Vista to about 950mb with the Japanese language support included (some 250mb~) and the latest nvidia driver for x64, and no hotfixes were included atm since I currently tried the latest vLite build and forgot to include them. Again CD's are out in this era. Haven't bought any since early 2000.
