My Browser Builds (Part 1)
Matt A. Tobin replied to roytam1's topic in Browsers working on Older NT-Family OSes
Remove all mention of Binary Outcast, BinOC, Matt A. Tobin, Borealis, Interlink any variation there of past and future.. You can use your "boc" or whatever but I want no mention of me, my organization, my products, my brands, anywhere on your site or in casual reference. I will make the necessary branding modifications to the navigator then you can do whatever you like with the code and I hope never to hear from you or your people again. I want no part of you or your projects even referential. Satisfy THAT and I will make the repository public again. -

This is totally unacceptable.. I gave you good faith instructions and you go and act snarky and utterly backhanded with it? Remove my name, my organization, and my brands from ALL of your pages in that case. All of it. I want no mention of it. -

Matt A. Tobin replied to roytam1's topic in Browsers working on Older NT-Family OSes
This is all quite unnecessary you know.. If Roytam were to withdraw the navigator builds with infringing content until it is actually a finished product and stop referring to any Binary Outcast project by its trademarked name or at least give it a "Based on Interlink Mail & News" or "Based on Borealis Navigator" and put up a disclaimer on his downloads page that these builds are not in any way affiliated or distributed by Binary Outcast.. I would return the public repository on github back to its former operational state. However, I will defend my trademarks and intellectual property including brand names. There are other things I can do as well. I can create a larger work and not open source any thing new in such required availability of covered software in source form. Only the specific Mozilla code. I still don't see how that helps anyone though. It would be simpler not to infringe on my rights instead. One must understand that open source does not mean public domain. -

Okay, how about this one. Mozilla Public License version 2.0 Section 3.2 paragraph a: The means I deem reasonable are by burned optical disc and postage. If you wish any further copies of the source code form from Binary Outcast beyond what has already been released, you will have to send a formal request to support [at] binaryoutcast [dot] com with your personal mailing address. I will then I will calculate the cost of the optical media and postage to your house and we can arrange payment for distribution materials and transit. You will get it in a timely manor. You will have to do this for each release of each application I produce. This is provided you actually use the binaries I produce. Very glad that Mozilla rewrote that part of the license when they did 2.0 Might want to think about that next time you accuse someone falsely of not following the MPL to the letter. As a matter of fact, the time between taking down the repo and getting the current source tarballs on the line was less than 24 hours. Also, that clause of the license to be triggered you would have had to make a good faith inquiry regarding the source code. You chose, however, to make a public scene and throw around accusations. You still haven't directly addressed me or asked for anything. This makes you a coward in my book. A coward and possibly a thief. I await your formal request upon the next release of one of my software products. -
My Browser Builds (Part 1)
Matt A. Tobin replied to roytam1's topic in Browsers working on Older NT-Family OSes
For for the builds based on Pale Moon and Basilisk the issue is that using the generic branding and then in the same sentence calling it "Pale Moon" and "Basilisk" everywhere creates massive confusion this is the false attribution and representation of whatever it is Roytam wants to produce. He and his cohorts refuse to create unique branding for it and continue to refer to it as "x for Windows XP" linking his builds to us. The same can be said for Binary Outcast projects except while Interlink has complete renaming to not cause confusion he again attributes this unauthorized build as Binary Outcast's Interlink.. In the case of the navigator.. It isn't even a finished product and he is shipping it out again with attribution but because it IS unfinished I have not yet made clear unofficial branding to differentiate it from the product I am producing. Additionally, as it is an UNFINISHED and currently UNRELEASED project it still has Mozilla Copywritten and Trademarked assets in terms of the Mozilla Suite Icons and SeaMonkey logos and icons that I have not yet replaced. The MPL gives him the right to take the source code and do what he likes with it according to the license but that ONLY applies to the source code that matches a binary form in question. Additionally, attributing his work based on my projects IS improper use of MY trademarks and general rights which are NOT extended to him. He is doing material damage by linking his builds to me AND he is doing materal damage by using my trademarked product name of Borealis in the actual resulting binary which the MPL strictly does not extend rights to. He is also doing damage to Mozilla for which there is copywritten and/or trademarked assets he is distributing. THIS has ALWAYS been my problem with Roytam and his friends. Instead of creating something of their own they do the minimum amount of work possible and wobble back and forth across the line of rights infringement to produce these builds for which they get acclaim from people like you from but when something goes wrong it falls to us to clean it up. As I also said, it also causes confusion with users. MCP has basically washed their hands and ignores Roytam's builds but my self as Binary Outcast, I want Borealis-based builds of the navigator to be pulled immediately from his archives as rights infringing material not only of my self but on behalf of the SeaMonkey Project and Mozilla until such time the project achieves first release, provide non-infringing unofficial branding, or he creates his own. As for Interlink-based builds I want all mention of the Interlink trademark removed from the associated sites and repositories OR and FOR the future there is a clear disclaimer that these builds are not in any way affiliated with Binary Outcast. IF these provisions are met I will cease my current activity and allow you to continue on as before without interference. -

Well seeing as it isn't Pale Moon... I dunno what to tell you dude. That is the point isn't it.. Whatever Roytam is producing isn't Pale Moon or Basilisk or Interlink or anything else. Unofficial Builds are not official and have no validity. At MOST you have to talk to Roytam about software he produces.. Not BinOC or MCP.. So here is a question, IF My self and Moonchild are not doing a very good job.. What do you call Roytam's work in this Netflix case? -

Moonchild Productions applications are not my primary responsibility. However, what is your issue? As for Borealis.. -

So you deny reality. That is cool and all but it doesn't make you right in your perceptions or declarations based upon them. -
My Browser Builds (Part 1)
Matt A. Tobin replied to roytam1's topic in Browsers working on Older NT-Family OSes
How does this make any sense? I help create the future. Hell, in many ways I created a lot of what you see these days. What am I following? Nothing, except my own vision. I am indeed a trendsetter. You do know it was my pushing things along that contributed to the reality you now experience especially with the abused software you are getting from Roytam. A lot of it would not be as it is without me. Which is why I am somewhat protective of it. Of course if he WASN'T a moron he would properly re-brand his efforts and not fall back on false attribution of his corruption. Is there perhaps a different tune you can play because this one is quite worn out after two+ years. -
My Browser Builds (Part 1)
Matt A. Tobin replied to roytam1's topic in Browsers working on Older NT-Family OSes
Come at me. Except that isn't valid.. What is a boc,? Nothing I am involved with, I'm sure. Moonchild has nothing to do with this. He is NOT a member of Binary Outcast. Interlink and other BinOC Projects are in no way related to Moonchild Productions. However, let's explore this for a moment, so not supporting an 18 year old operating system that Microsoft doesn't even support anymore is "Not doing a good job". How does this make logical sense? Hmm? In any event, the MPL is satisfied. -
My Browser Builds (Part 1)
Matt A. Tobin replied to roytam1's topic in Browsers working on Older NT-Family OSes
The MPL 2.0 will be obeyed to the letter. Perhaps if you morons weren't abusing my brands and falsely attributing your substandard builds to me using my trademarked names or producing builds of an unreleased product violating My and Mozilla trademarks (which is the case of navigator as I have not cleared out trademarked SeaMonkey assets yet) I wouldn't be doing this. ALSO, Binary Outcast's short form is BinOC not "boc". You may have been able to get away with your bullshittery with Moonchild Productions but I am an entirely different entity to deal with. You are on notice that improper use of my Copywritten and Trademarked brands, names, and logos will not be tolerated. -
I just followed the instructions and it worked.

I am getting a blur everywhere except for classicshell but I bet the dwm call is deactivated when running on Windows 8 but I have the blur everywhere else.

It is **** impressive work. You have accomplished what Stardock is having issue with and microsoft I bet at times said was impossible. My only issue is that damned demo messagebox. I appreciate that this is a demo and use under my own responsibility but I am getting the box every hour or so. I do want to ask tho i bet it has been asked before. How may I contribute to your efforts and fine work. Also I must report that the dll and glass seem to conflict with Stardock's WindowFX. I am not sure why it should conflict but it sends DWM into a typical crash loop that results in being kicked out of my user session. Peace, Matt A. Tobin

BUMP Easy WinXP CD Install to WIM Conversion This basically encapsulates the standard windows xp install method inside a wim file. Because it will install completely from the hard drive the installation time is decreased significantly. Step 1 - Boot to WinPE 2 or higher Step 2 - Setup a regular drive or partition using diskpart Step 3 - Use Standard Windows XP CD - Run winnt32.exe /syspart:c: /makelocalsource (where c is the letter of the drive) - enter product key etc Step 4 - use imagex to capture the drive Step 5 - DEPLOYMENT - boot to WinPE 2 or higher - set up partition or drive using diskpart (be sure to assign a drive letter and make it active.. etc) - bootsect /nt52 /force /mbr - imagex /apply xpinst.wim 1 c: Step 6 - reboot and run though text mode and gui setup as normal Brought to you by Binary Outcast - http://binaryoutcast.com/

How to hide Recycle Bin icon on 2003?
Matt A. Tobin replied to itsky8's topic in Windows 2000/2003/NT4
Last I checked hiding the recycling bin is not an option for xp 2003 and even vista and 2008 ... you can use the xp TweakUI 2x version from microsoft to hide any shell desktop icon you want... or even show a few that are hidden by default but as always this is a poweruser tool so be careful... but if you just use it to hide a desktop icon you shouldnt run into any problems... -Matt A. Maybe I wasnt as clear as i should have been.. my bad... and thanks to that anonymous user for the links they are helpful... Anyway the Key Points are of this project are: -See how far we can strip windows down... -Remove Inbox Apps -Remove Eyecandy where we can -Get Vista to run on the oldest hardware effencently as possible. Just to see how far we can reduce its foot print -Reduce Hard Drive Space upon installation The best Analogy is it take vista to place some ware between Windows PE 2.0 and Windows Vista Stock with the Foot print of about a stock XP CD. But with out breaking compatibility with applications that may be dependent of some core technology of windows.. Additional Things to kill -Superfetch -Indexing -As many services that can be safely removed as possible Then Create a Guide and Post it here and else ware for someone to use as a base for their own Custom Vista Installs but they can start from a base of Vista which this project will give them and if they need or want something they can add it back. My Target Oldest Hardware would be around 512 mb of ram 1ghz Athlon or P4 and a 30gb hard drive - Now this is just a general guideline of hardware id like to see if we can get Vista stripped to a point that it would run decent on it. Now I realize that the Recommended Hardware for a base vista and more realistically would be something approaching a 1.8-2.0 ghz Celuron/Semphron 512 mb of ram and 30gb harddrive. Reminder this is just an exparament to see just how far we can get vista's foot print down to and the absolute minimum hardware it could run decent on. And if we can reach our target then think of how well it would run on modern specs.. BTW The Aero Removal is optional I suppose just disabling it on older hardware is just as good as removing it. Thanks again for your replys and contribution on this project. And remember its just for fun

Newb question regarding OEM Dell Vista disc & vLite
Matt A. Tobin replied to Canoman's topic in vLite
Should be no problem... i got a copy of the oem bios dell iso and it worked with i Intergrated SP1 into it... -
I want to start a project to see how far we can strip vista down to make it run comparable to xp and not loose hardware/application compatibility.. Things to strip out: -Aero Theme (theming all together) -Inbox Apps Such as Windows Mail Windows Sidebar Windows Photo Gallery but not breaking picture viewer, contacts, dvd maker, movie maker, etc... (Keep IE and Media Player) -Extra Services we do not simply need for a basic computer just internet/word processor/music player/email checker I need help and testers to test configurations... Lets see how far we can strip vista without breaking things for 3rd party apps... If anyone can help or contribute ideas for what can be removed without consequences would be helpful too... I hope this will not be a dead thread So lets see how far we can tear vista down...

Installing Winxp via winnt32 under Winpe v2.0 (Vista PE)
Matt A. Tobin replied to kyor's topic in Windows PE
Heh old thread... anyway i created an XP install image using imagex and winpe2.0 I programed a simple GUI to execute commands like quickformat diskpart and bootsect and such... anyway.. i use an nLited XP install so its all automated so to prep a drive to capture the install image.... run: winnt32 /unattend:winnt.sif /makelocalsource /noreboot (you could just run winnt32 /makelocalsource and enter your licence info and whatever...) then I use ImageX to capture that image and what i end up with is an image all ready for deployment under winpe2.0 then when i pop in my disc it boots to winpe and my custom shell launcher doober comes up... Diskpart (or just a quick format if the partition exists) apply image bootsect /nt52 more or less three clicks and a Y (to confirm i want to quick format) and i am ready to reboot and it does the normal blue textmode then gui then done.. in like less then 25 min... My PE Shell has the following commands Apply image (I call it Install Windows) Quick Format C: Run Disk Partitioner (Diskpart till i find a WinPE2 compadible diskpart gui) Apply NT5x Boot Sector (bootsect /nt52) Open Command Prompt (cmd.exe) the kickass ImageX GUI (for imageing jobs beyond the simple apply image) Open Registry Editor (regedit.exe) Everyone needs a registry editor avilable and a readme.. which i havent programed yet because im a lazy son of a b***h it looks nifty the coding is horrific but it all works but that winnt32 /makelocalsource then capture with ImageX should work... just be sure you apply the NT5x bootsector so it loads NTLDR if you format and not do bootsect it will want to run BOOTMGR and windows xp doesnt come with it... this method should work with win2k and server03 also -
