Ask your Seven xml ? here
Octopuss replied to maxXPsoft's topic in Unattended Windows 7/Server 2008R2
Oh it's not about quotes. I tested that. I mean, just because it's more "proper" way to use the code doesn't mean quotes won't work. In fact, I nailed it down to previous command, which installs some Citrix plugin. I have no idea why is it acting up like this, because the commands are supposed to execute separately, waiting for the previous one to finish, but it works after I removed the Citrix thing. Weird, really weird. -

Are there any instances where a command ran from live system would work normally, and putting it in firstlogoncommands wouldn't? I am trying to install Cisco VPN Client and it just doesn't do anything. <Order>9</Order> <CommandLine>cmd /c start /wait msiexec.exe /qn /i "%systemdrive%\install\Cisco VPN 5\vpnclient-winx64-msi-5.0.07.0440-k9\vpnclient_setup.msi"</CommandLine> <Description>install Cisco VPN</Description> </SynchronousCommand> Update: if I install this first, it WORKS. If I leave my answer file as it usually is (few more entries before), it doesn't. I have no idea what's wrong Is there a way to check what actually happens in those popup windows where apps get installed? With an eyeblink I saw some text in two of them, but then it disappeared. It doesn't help to use "cmd /k" instead, the window gets wiped and I see clean command prompt. -
Adobe Flash Player 11 unattended install
Octopuss replied to Octopuss's topic in Unattended Windows 7/Server 2008R2
Ok, I understand. But say I only want to install 32bit version of the plugin. Why does that refuse to install? The fact that there is no error log doesn't help it either. I have the same problem with Cisco VPN client btw. There is nothing obviously wrong with my command (cmd /c start "Cisco VPN Client" /wait msiexec.exe /i "%systemdrive%\install\Cisco VPN 5\vpnclient-winx64-msi-5.0.07.0440-k9\vpnclient_setup.msi" /quiet {also tried /q and /qn}), and it still doesn't install. -
Anyone tried yet? I swear it must be bugged in some way, because no matter what I do I can't get the 32bit version to install through synchronous commands at all. Adobe's installators generally install well with just -install parameter - confirmed by one of their techs on the forums. I thought ok, maybe I will have more luck with msi installer. No way... I am trying to get this thing installed on Win7 x64. This is what I have in my answer file: <SynchronousCommand wcm:action="add"> <Order>3</Order> <CommandLine>cmd /c start /wait msiexec.exe /i %systemdrive%\install\install_flash_player_11_active_x_32bit.msi /qn</CommandLine> <Description>install Flash Player</Description> </SynchronousCommand> <SynchronousCommand wcm:action="add"> <Order>4</Order> <CommandLine>cmd /c start /wait msiexec.exe /i %systemdrive%\install\install_flash_player_11_active_x_64bit.msi /qn</CommandLine> <Description>install Flash Player</Description> </SynchronousCommand> <SynchronousCommand wcm:action="add"> <Order>5</Order> <CommandLine>cmd /c start /wait msiexec.exe /i %systemdrive%\install\install_flash_player_11_plugin_32bit.msi /qn</CommandLine> <Description>install Flash Player</Description> </SynchronousCommand> <SynchronousCommand wcm:action="add"> <Order>6</Order> <CommandLine>cmd /c start /wait msiexec.exe /i %systemdrive%\install\install_flash_player_11_plugin_64bit.msi /qn</CommandLine> <Description>install Flash Player</Description> </SynchronousCommand> Originally all those commands were like "cmd /c start /wait %systemdrive%\install\install_flash_player_11_active_x_32bit.exe -install". The result was always the same: only the 64bit versions installed. Has anyone tried yet? I desperately need to solve this until end of the weekend.

Well, I was still so p***ed at Auzentech I didn't even expect the card to work, nor to be any better. So I was testing with rather negative attitude, and yet - some of the music I listened to DID sound better. Like if there was more stuff I could hear. It was even more noticeable in a game. Suddenly I heard LOTS of new things, the music was richer... The only downside is the microphone. No matter what I do, it doesn't capture any sound, unless I yell at it from like 1cm away. When I enable mic boost, it only captures the airflow around and the speakers start the usual noisy coupling
-
Auzentech pulled their fingers out of their asses and produced new revision of the card, which seems to be working. I just received replacement card today. It only took over FIVE MONTHS worth of waiting to get a reply on my ticket. Maybe, MAYBE, maybe I will finally be able to use the card I bought over two years ago. Fingers crossed. The sound is awesome though. I am no audiophile (in fact I consider myself deaf in this regard), but compared to Realtek HD wannabeaudio even I do hear differences. Yay.

Even with copyprofile setting?

I ran into obscure problem. I am preparing an image and I want Aero to be enabled, but when I boot into audit mode in VM, Aero is not functional and I can't customize the theme, because the virtual graphic card is some sort of generic crap. What shall I do? Basically I want full Aero, but with no sounds and solid desktop background.

Does anyone have any idea why does this <TrustedSites>https://cag.cz.o2.com;https://neos.cz.o2.com</TrustedSites> not get carried over to the installation? Everything else works, but this doesn't. Comes from specialize\ <component name="Microsoft-Windows-IE-InternetExplorer" processorArchitecture="x86" publicKeyToken="31bf3856ad364e35" language="neutral" versionScope="nonSxS" xmlns:wcm="http://schemas.microsoft.com/WMIConfig/2002/State" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance"> -

Weird. The final version of the command is <CommandLine>cmd /c start /wait %systemdrive%\TEMP\SystemUpdate.exe -s -a /s /v"/qn CREATESHORTCUT=1"</CommandLine> It works in VM but not on real PC! What the heck? Is there any log I can check for errors during installation of things? There's not much I could use in Panther folder. I need to find out why does it not install. -
tried running the command several times in a row, on work and home computers both, and still the same error message (UAC off, using local admin account) edit: if I skip the whole /format part, I do get some results.

still the same

Phew, I can't get this to work: <SynchronousCommand wcm:action="add"> <Order>14</Order> <CommandLine>cmd /c start /wait %systemdrive%\TEMP\SystemUpdate.exe -s -a /s /v"/qn"</CommandLine> <Description>install Thinkvantage System Update</Description> </SynchronousCommand> The parameters are just like that (!!). If I run this normally from command prompt, it works ok. But from the answer file it gives me an error. The quotation marks are screwing the line up and confusing the setup. Tried double marks but it got even worse (=put whole path and parameters between a pair of those trying to make it look like one line). How else shall I format it? -
I did exact copy/paste and got this error. The first command spammed me with several pages worth of stuff The middle one looks interesting: C:\Program Files\Windows AIK\Tools\PETools>wmic path Win32_networkadapterconfiguration where "IPENABLED=TRUE" get Caption,SettingID Caption SettingID [00000007] Intel(R) 82566DC-2 Gigabit Network Connection {BD03DA90-F89B-485B-B76F-719C563873EA} [00000015] Cisco Systems VPN Adapter for 64-bit Windows {6349C85D-366F-4714-8507-A04A54AF002C}

There is no need to be rude jac, I really didn't like the fingerless remark. In my case (one physical adapter and one VPN connection) it shows: Local Area Connection Local Area Connection #2 The other command says "Invalid XSL format (or) file name."

Is it possible to write the answer file so that only one partition is wiped and the system is installed there? I have the disk in my home PC partitioned so that the smaller one is used for system and the other for various programs that don't have to be installed. I wouldn't want to have to back few tens of gigabytes up. I think willwipedisk applies to whole drive in general, not just a partition. Hmm? -
No, unfortunately that's out of question. It's not about being lazy, but I just cannot do that. Anything that has anything to do with coding (this is coding in a way) is simply beyong what I can understand.
-
Hey thanks! I will definitely try that as well. All I need to accomplish is really just dumb batch-rename. I only need to be absolutely sure to rename the physical adapter and nothing else. But since we also have a minority of foreign users, I might as well need universal solution that doesn't just look for one specific string, but rather somehow identifies the adapter.
-
I tried the vbs script and it does work... up to a point. It renames anything that is NOT the network adapter. lol. Like on my work pc I have a Cisco VPN connection, and that somehow gets chosen by the script. Pretty funny. I gotta find someone who is proficient in scripting.

Unsigned drivers during setup
Octopuss replied to Octopuss's topic in Unattended Windows 7/Server 2008R2
The second approach is probably a good way around this as the driver is related to an application that's not under any development whatsoever anymore, so it's kind of safe to put it right into the "base" image. Thanks. -
Unsigned drivers during setup
Octopuss replied to Octopuss's topic in Unattended Windows 7/Server 2008R2
So the answer is?... You confused me -
Well the string is of course different for different system language, but that's not a problem at all, I do know what is it called in czech. It's just about changing it. Also I am only interested in the exact string without any numbers as those other adapters are things like VPN connections etc. I only need to change the name of the physical adapter in the computer. I will check the links you posted.
-
There is probably an easy way to do this, but I am not too educated on the command line subject, so if someone could help me out I'd really appreciate it. I need to rename network adapter names on all the machines of our client from the default "Local area connection" to "LAN" for batch network settings change. I figured this is stored in registry, and finding it is actually pretty simple: REG QUERY HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\control\network\ /s /e /f "Local area connection" BUT how do I change it when I don't know where is it located in the first place? There are a few diferent machine types with different adapters, so obviously the registry location is slightly different.

Is there a way to force setup to install unsigned drivers? I am trying to install a driver for fingerprint reading software with firstlogoncommands, but it pops up a warning, which kills the purpose of unattended installation. Does anyone know a way around this please?

Since I do not have any PC running 32bit Windows, I cannot use SIM to edit my answer file in. If I just grab the one I used for 64bit Windows and replace all "amd64" strings with "x86", will it work, or do I need to edit some other things as well?
