    Help Please

The HFAAO files have to be either CAB or 7z files. Other file types won't work. Please refer to step 3 of the HFAAO instructions.
  2. xyzzy - don't get in trouble. Not worth it. Feel like running a science experiment? See if windows with IE8 really needs the same MUI file in both the sys32 and the 1005 folder.
  3. dziubek - Does this happen with all AAO's? Or just this one in particular? The picture you show tells me that you are slipstreaming something AND HFAAO'ing the same thing. If not, I take it that you've been seeing this problem for a long time. This part of the script is unchanged from when tomcat76 wrote it.
  4. theruan - Sorry I can't help you if you didn't post the results from your last post. I don't know what I don't know. A new beta is up. Please test if you are a home user. If you are using hfslip at a company or business, get lost and don't use this software. If there's one more business user that comes on this board and asks for help, I'm done with this.
  5. Good. Thanks. The IE8 installer was getting parsed twice, when it should have only been run once. I believe its fixed now, but I haven't tested an install such as yours. Making a full blown xp source has way too much bloat. I spoiled myself with my hfcleanup and small ISOs. Please give the latest beta a whirl. It should fix the double entries. Report back.
  6. The global warming initiative isn't working. I hate snow. Bring back R12.

  7. xyzzy - You nailed the prob. Now, I gotta ask - are those MUI files supposed to be to 2 places? Or just the 1005 directors? Or just the sys32 folder? Maybe install ie8 regularly and see what's where?
  8. Detard - thanks for your help. Can you do me [you] a favor? Can you try slipstreaming IE7 instead? If there's no errors there, then I think I can remedy the situation. Thanks!
  9. I'm at a loss. I thought *those* files get copied over to the folder "1005" and then nothing else happens. I'm not too sure of an installer that causes the error. At what point does the error happen? During txtmode? During the gui part? t-13? Maybe you can try this... open hfslipwu.inf and delete the stuff in ROROE. Can you try that out and report back? Also, post up your hfslip.log file too.
  10. Slipstream the sata drivers manually. There's plenty of DIYs on the net. It's not hard. I prefer to do my SATA slipstreaming manually if it means anything.
  11. I reviewed the script and the entries for the new IE8 files are put into dosnet.inf. But maybe something is overriding it? I dunno. I can't test all possibilities. The script renames the abcd.dll.mui files, because it txtmode isn't smart enough when filenames aren't 8.3 format. Are you using hfcleanup at all? Can you ZIP and post your txtsetup.sif and dosnet.inf files? Do you have a list of what files aren't being copied?
  12. Your copy does not have txtsetup.sif? Txtsetup.sif is an essential file for setting up windows. It's also an essential file that hfslip modifies to add new files for install. If you don't have txtsetup.sif, then hfslip won't work for you either.
  13. I don't think so. I don't plan on adding it either. HFSLIP64 is no longer maintained and I have not a single interest in it.
  14. Why should the script be modded? All the documentation says that the purpose of hfslip is for a cd install? If you want to do something that the program isn't designed for, then you are on your own. Good luck.
  15. The xml files aren't needed. The binaries and inf for a driver should be in it's own folder, additional subfolders isn't any good. If the driver isn't installing correctly, you may need to mess around with the setup inf file a bit. I've found that drivermax isn't 100% perfect. Once looking through a driver setup inf, I saw that some binaries weren't copied over to the folder. Copying them manually fixed that prob. One thing that could hurt slipstreaming drivers is the windows certified drivers (I could be wrong with the terminology used). I'm not sure how to work around that. I guess one way to work around that is through experimentation.
  16. I'm sure that you can have both, as long as the filenames (sys's, dll's, inf's) aren't the same. Give it a whirl and report back.
  17. This new board is horribly slow... Numbers 4 & 6 are for W2K. Item 5 is for xp w/sp2 or sp1 & not needed for sp3. Looking at the cab file specified in #7, it seems that it's the installer for the redistro package. Or in other words, #7 is for a manual installation. Having said [typed] that, it appears that #7 is not needed for hfslip.
  18. HFSLIP used to extract it the dx9 exe into the hfcabs. Why bother checking it? Just extract it and call it a day. For xp, it's not critical that you have all those cabs there. 99% of the time, it's for gaming or for some app that needs some special dx9 binary.
  19. There's no need to do anything with the exclude.txt file. Thanks for reporting a success mission.
  20. Sorry I am not on 24 hour alert - real life got in the way for doing a free service. A new final was released.
  21. Can you do the wshlwapi.dll version check? Check the version after a barebones normal (non hfslip) install, post IE8 install, and post HF install. I may need to tailor that little fix. Thanks!
  22. I see the prob. Looks like one less binary needs to get processed if doing IE8. I'm surprised WU didn't report this before. Can you open the script, locate the following, my textreader says it's around line number 940. ECHO>>%MAINSS%\TXTSETUP.SIF sdesktop.scf = 1,,,,,,,,3,3&ECHO>>%MAINSS%\DOSNET.INF d1,sdesktop.scf :: MOVE XCOPY/Y WORK\MSIE\UPDATE\*.CAT WORK\SVCPACK >NUL add the following between the two lines (just before the move line). :: BANDAIDS FOR BAD HOTFIXES DEL/Q/F WORK\MSIE\shlwapi.dll Report your findings. On a sidenote, is wshlwapi.dll part of the IE8 installer? Can you do the rev check like you did before (orig cd, post IE8 install, post HF install)? That last post you did nailed the shlwapi.dll prob.

    Windows Updates

PVU - Thanks for the offer. Please PM me your email addy, I can sent you a spreadsheet that sort of automates the update web page. mim0 & muppet hunter - Please update your lists to add in a blurb for WMP11. HFSLIP has a hard time extracting the WMP11 installer on some OSs and some languages. If the user gets some files not found during the isntall txtmode copy part, then the user will need to extract the WMP11 installer into a HF\WMP11 folder.
