  1. HFSLIP is meant for installing from a CD. Sorry dude. I'll see if I can think of some workaround for this though.
  2. FWIW - I typically remove COM+ when using NLITE and have absolutely no problems. I'm not sure if COM+ is the same as COM.
  3. I don't quite understand what HFNETCHK is saying. It's saying that quartz.dll is behind a revision, but the revision that it wants is the one that is part of your installation. Does regular windows update tell you that Q904706 is missing?
  4. @dziubek - Thanks for posting the results. I'll have to update the script a bit for XP's directX update.
  5. @rfliu2000 - Please don't post code. If you have an issue with a hotfix, please post what hotfix you believe needs to be listed.
  6. Something to try... remove the three dl_'s from FDVFILES, run HFSLIP and then run NLITE. See if that works. Also, don't forget to NOT select IE from the removal when running NLITE. Post back your findings.
  7. I have a strong feeling that FDV won't support this, as he has not supported it in the past. His fileset is supposed to be used independantly (i.e. not run NLITE on it). However, can you post your error_report file? Perhaps we can work through a solution. BTW, can you confirm if your sourcess folder installs without a BSOD without using Nlite?
  8. @pain - do you feel like posting some of the modded CMD files for a multiboot? I'll see if I can incorporate it into a next version. I never messed with multiboots cd's. May as well make hfslip more universal.....
  9. @saugatak - Just be sure you are using the listed hfslip version.... HFSLIP will automate lots of stuff when the 51016 version is posted. BTW, if you comment stuff out with FDV's files, I'm sure that the files will copy over correctly. Where is the editpad32? I just started using win32pad and it rocks. http://www.gena01.com/win32pad/
  10. HFLSIP Your Alternate Applications version 2 dated October 30, 2005. Works with HFLSIP_51030.cmd and newer. This is an advanced feature, if you are uncomfortable with doing this, then don't do it. What does this do? a. Slipstreams alternate things into your source. Does this require system file protection or any dll replacements? a. No. What if I NLITE my source? a. Do NOT remove what your're trying to replace. (hint - add the filename to your KeepFiles] Directions 1. Download and place modifype.exe inside the HFTOOLS folder. 2. Create a folder alongside called HFEXPERT 3. Create a folder inside HFEXPERT called APPREPLACEMENT 4. Place files to replace your source files, you must rename them to match the source. See examples below. 5. Run HFSLIP and your done. Examples: An alternate Task Manager TASKMGR.EXE (Rename Sysinternal's Process Explorer executable) [tested OK] An alternate Media Player MPLAYER2.EXE (Rename the GNU Media Player Classic executable) [tested OK] A small executable to redirect links to use an alternate browser IEXPLORE.EXE (in this thread http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=57970) [untested] If someone wants to maintain this thread, please step up to the plate.
  11. @pain - I have no idea why hfnetchk does that. I questioned it when I first started using it, so I did a regular installation instead of a HFSLIP one. Same errors. Strange. Anyway, your 2k server fix was incorporated and will be posted in the next version of HFSLIP (should be released in a bit once FDV posts it). Oh yea, most importantly, thanks for using the error report tool. While you wait for the new HFSLIP, take some time and take the Pepsi challenge: http://www.ryanvm.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=551
  12. I know what the problem is. The 2k rollup has the same file with a newer date but older version. Weird huh? I can fix it, but can you post your prodspec.ini file? I don't have 2k server. In the meantime, can you makecab that file and put it into the FIX folder until I got it resolved. This is like to 15th crappy version mistake from microsoft. Please post your prodpec.ini file in the meantime... Thanks and sorry for the inconvenience.
  13. For the minimalist... BBLEAN.
  14. Yes HFSLIP can do it. http://www.vorck.com/hfslip.html step 4.

    HFEXPERT

Do you mean a folder structure like this? c:\Winnt\\bin and c:\winnt\gre
  16. Yea, I knew about the QFE ones. I was told a while back that these fixes are experimental and not really official. I'll see what I can do about adding this in for the next release.
  17. @megablast - Thanks! I can't test other languages... Not enough time in the day to test all of them! . Thanks for getting to the bottom of that hotfix... should be a non-issue now. BTW, you'd be amazed how many errors I have uncovered with HFSLIP. It's freaking amazing that a company as large as m$ft has such poor configuration management. I'll update the next version... BTW, the new version will have some cool stuff.
  18. @saugatak - Thanks for bringing this up with the repacking of other exe files. That is the coolest thing ever!!!! Watch out for when the next HFSLIP strikes.
  19. Shhhhh. FDV+HFSLIP+NLITE works. Just don't remove IE when running Nlite. .....Shhhhh.
  20. @dziubek - What's going on? Welcome back. Haven't seen you post in a while. Since I last heard from you, HFSLIP went under serious reconstruction. I guess I missed a few things, as you pointed out. a. WindowsXP-KB898461-x86-PLK.exe - HFSLIP had a typo (now corrected and posted) b. WindowsXP-KB887472-x86-SP1-PLK.exe - you are slipstreaming the incorrect version, grab the version for SP2. For english the filename is WindowsXP-KB887742-x86-ENU.exe, for you is is most likely WindowsXP-KB887742-x86-PLK.exe. Google for it and use that file instead. c. WindowsXP-KB890046-x86-PLK.exe - This confuses me. Are you sure that your hotfix isn't corrupted? When I try your exact hotfix file, HFSLIP works. I fixed this issue a while ago. Perhaps you should re-download it and replace the one you have. Please test the current HFSLIP and report back.
  21. kreative19 - Here's what you need in your HF folder. Nothing more, nothing less. Remove any files you have that aren't listed below. The list below is for a a 99% patched 2k/ie6/dx9 system (sorry I don't use WU). If you are wondering where the optional files are, please visit FDVs website on how to get the right ones. The below information is presented in FDVs site that has it listed. I saved you a few mouseclicks. . Change your fileset and report back. Oh yea, please don't rename RAR files to ZIP. Names of the files in your HF folder: IE6.0sp1-KB823353-x86-ENU.exe IE6.0sp1-KB833989-x86-ENU.exe IE6.0sp1-KB896688-Windows-2000-XP-x86-ENU.exe IE6.0sp1-KB905495-Windows2000-x86-ENU.exe msxmlcab.exe <<< optional MSXML oe6.0sp1-KB897715-Windows-2000-XP-x86-ENU.exe ROOTSUPD.exe SCRIPTEN.exe Windows-KB890830-V1.9-ENU.exe <<< optional for the WU pukes WindowsUpdateAgent20-x86.exe <<< optional for the WU pukes Windows2000-KB842773-x86-ENU.EXE Windows2000-KB890046-x86-ENU.EXE Windows2000-KB890859-x86-ENU.EXE Windows2000-KB891861-v2-x86-ENU.EXE Windows2000-KB893756-x86-ENU.EXE Windows2000-KB896358-x86-ENU.EXE Windows2000-KB896422-x86-ENU.EXE Windows2000-KB896423-x86-ENU.EXE Windows2000-KB899587-x86-ENU.EXE Windows2000-KB899589-x86-ENU.EXE Windows2000-KB899591-x86-ENU.EXE Windows2000-KB900725-x86-ENU.EXE Windows2000-KB901017-x86-ENU.EXE Windows2000-KB901214-x86-ENU.EXE Windows2000-KB902400-x86-ENU.EXE Windows2000-KB904706-DX9-x86-ENU.exe Windows2000-KB905414-x86-ENU.EXE Windows2000-KB905749-x86-ENU.EXE WindowsInstaller-KB893803-v2-x86.exe WindowsMedia9-KB885492-x86-ENU.exe <<< optional for the WMP update wmfdist.exe <<< optional WM9/WM10 codecs z_Windows2000-KB840987-x86-ENU.EXE z_Windows2000-KB885834-x86-ENU.EXE Names of the files in your HFCABS folder: BDANT.cab <<< optional DX9C BRANDING.CAB <<< IE6SP1 dxnt.cab <<< optional DX9C IEW2K_1.CAB <<< IE6SP1 IEW2K_2.CAB <<< IE6SP1 IEW2K_3.CAB <<< IE6SP1 IEW2K_4.CAB <<< IE6SP1 LegitCheckControl.cab <<< optional for the WU pukes MAILNEWS.CAB <<< IE6SP1 OEEXCEP.CAB <<< IE6SP1 SCRIPTEN.CAB <<< IE6SP1 WAB.CAB <<< IE6SP1
  22. Can you save it as a ZIP file. Your file posted is a RAR file with the extension changed to ZIP. In other words, it's not a ZIP file. Please repost as a ZIP file instead and we can help you out.

    What belongs where?

@Crash - The solution for filenaming is really easy. Just download it from Microsoft and put it into the HF folder. Don't rename it, just drop all the files there. ALL hotfixes will be treated this way with HFSLIP. However if you want to add in additional things like codecs and whatnot, you have to do some legwork yourself. All the instructions for that legwork is on FDVs site.
  24. Doublecheck step 3 of this: http://www.vorck.com/hfslip.html I don't think you have your folders setup correctly. If you dont see an error_report.txt file alongside your hfslsip.cmd file once the script is done, you didn't set it up correctly. To simplify things, create a folder on your D drive called HFSLIP. PLace the hfslip.cmd file there. Doubleclick it. Fill the folders. Run hfslip again. Post back your error report. FYI, don't use spaces or punctuation marks with the HFSLIP folder name.
  25. @Bilou_Gateux - Thanks for the post. I stickied it. Keep up the good work as always.
