  1. yazee01 - Thanks for the submissions, but please follow the guidelines in reference to blank lines.
  2. Make an ISO from the SOURCE folder and install that ISO. This will test for a bad filecopy. How much free space do you have on your machine running HFSLIP?
  3. murvun - you may want to consider setting the file attributes after the copy. One of the "other" bonuses we have with 2k is that files copied off a cd have read only attributes, XP clears that tag off.
  4. Here's some feedback from my fiasco getting the icon pack to install. The problem with my ultra light installation was that I was missing some of the EXEs that are specified in the access/utilities folder. I guess that if the INF can't "see" these files, then the INF fails silently. My workaround was to use Electrician's INF, but I had to modify it a bit. It installs like a charm... I put the ICLs in the hfexpert/win and the INF in the hfexpert/codecs and all is great. If there is a need or demand for my modded inf, I'll forward it to Tain so he can host it up.
  5. Kramy - Don't remove your sound drivers and you'll be ok with playing WM type files.
  6. I'd love to, but I want to see plugins that work on this board. Remember, I'm trying this plugin like a noob would.
  7. If you can't play files, I'll may have to take a stab that nlte'd hfslip directions weren't read on what files to keep and what not to select. All files except for MOV play fine for me. I can't play MOV because I purposely don't install them on my machine.
  8. Have you tried?
  9. Actually, I have a dumb request, unless it's there already and it never worked right. Bugs's first ICL swap (about 3 months ago), had some nice icons adjacent to the shutdown and logoff on the start menu. Is this part of this pack too? And yes, I'd like to continue testing because it would be nice if noobs can use this error-free. If it matters, I do not have my %windir% named winnt. I have mine named something else.
  10. Yea, I was 7th. My ex g-f was on the far side of 8th. Apparantly she got into sales. I heard her advertising from where I was. There were guys lined up all the way down the street and all I heard was her saying "Lays Lays Lays". I never knew she was a great businesswoman for selling potato chips. She shouldn't work too hard, she looked like he!!. I'm glad she didn't recognize me with the lampshade on. Maybe it was all the commotion with the people lined up like they on a line for the Carousel like the movie Logan's Run. I think this mission is almost complete on this side. Time for paisley.
  11. If it's a switchless installer, then put it into HFSVCPACK, if it's a switch installer (like a type 2 hotfix), put it into HFSVCPACK_SW. If you don't know which is which, then you are best off searching the unattended forum and/or unattended.msfn.org.
  12. I'm still having problems with this. Maybe I'm just being dumb or something, but I'd like it to be easy for noobs to use. Upon review of the INF in the exe file, would it be OK to change the %SYSROOT% to %SystemRoot%?
  13. hfslip.log?
  14. Electrician - I kind of prefer to have the ICLs in the %windir% folder and nowhere else. I don't like widows in scattered folders. hehe. BTW, Bugs has a link to TAiN's link on the first post of this thread. The main HFSLIP link has a hyperlink to this thread too. I think we're covered.... Thanks for your exe help with this.
  15. I may have to doubt FDV on this one. I generated reg files for my windows explorer settings and placed them into the HFSVCPACK folder. Even though I'm using IE6, all my settings are the same after each install even though each time I install, I have new IE updates. Getting the reg tweak was difficult though. I think it took me 5 or 6 attempts to get it all. One thing I found out is that the explorer reg tweaks for FDV's fileset is the same as an IE5 system. Explorer reg tweaks for an IE6 system will only work on an IE6 system. Perhaps the settings are dependant on the main version of shlwapi.dll; by main version number I mean the 3 parts of the dll version. In my case, the version on this machine is 6.0.2800.1740, the version is 6.0.2800. This dll is highly integrated with IE6. The IE5 and FDV's set uses version 5.x.xxxx.
  16. That latest version that TAiN has hyperlinked still doesn't work. Perhaps it's because my installed system only has two folders in my Program Folders directory (yes this is due to my HFCLEANUP). The two folders I have are the common files and windows media player. It appears that if there is a missing folder, the files won't copy over, and the INF fails when it is run because it can't find the files. I ran into bad INFs when developing hfslip. If any line in the installation INF is bad, the entire INF won't run. Is there a way to put all the ICL files into the %windir% directory instead of scattered all over the place?
  17. TAiN & all, the first post was updated to show TAiN's simplified codec installation. Thanks TAiN!
  18. Oh mighty FDV, will the enemies notice us with these lampshades on our heads? On second thought, we should put price tags back on them so we could pass for Minnie Pearl wannabees.
  19. CMD file? Where is it? I may as well go back to the old way of installing this pack.
  20. Pardon my ignorance, but if I put that exe file in the HFSVCPACK_SW folder, nothing happens. If run the program standalone, files extract, but nothing happens. Am I doing something wrong? FWIW, after "installation", I have a explorer.icl file located in the root of my drive. With my HFCLEANUP'd installation, I don't have a PF/Internet Explorer folder. Does this folder need to be present for this icon pack to install?

    hscxpsp1.cab missing

Are you sure that your source is ok? I mean, have you created an ISO from the source folder and verify all works ok? Are you sure that this file exists in your source directory? (I read about lots of bad file copies when copying from a cd). Just ask fdv, he ran into that problem for quite some time.
  22. My vote is for bugs bunny's icl files. I've been HAPPILY using these ICL he most posted a few months back. I would say that this is probably one of the nicest contributions to the HFSLIP board. Thanks again Bugs!!!
  23. Why reinvent the wheel on this one? http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=58362
  24. A winnt.sif with the proper switches will prevent 90% of the pre-installed links. The "media" links are part of the WMP installation inf.
  25. You *could* use HFEXPERT, but only for the windows folder stuff. HFSLIP won't do progs or docs and settings. If using HFEXPERT, I recommend reading this. http://www.vorck.com/hfexpert.html
