  1. @greekman,

I had a C# program (though based on a way older version of wpi) that created the wpi config.js file automatically by pointing to the parent folder, systematically trying to extract and add the silent parameters and filling out the rest of the wpi data.

This program also managed the apps very much like wpi configurator or some of the others in the forum, but most of this functionality is now contained within wpi so I've been concentrating efforts on building the functionality in javascript...just not a lot of time lately to work on it. Will pass on code to mritter and kel when I get it semi-functioning reliably and properly for their expertise and whether it should be included or not.

In the meantime, this should make the wishlist if it's worth pursuing.

either way theres a million applications in the world therefor using such a application would only account for less than 30% of all apps ever created being succesfully installed silently with a silent switch,, so that still would be kinda useless because it would just confuse newbies and then flood these forums mainly wpi,, saying why wont this install...

i pointed out the obvious that it wont really be possible, and as for proof well lets say,, some apps need to be made as custom silent installers, or auto it,, or custom iss packs and so forth,,

so no this wont ever be possible and even if it does get worked on,, the chances of it being able to do every app that every single user wants is very low in deed

  3. whats everyones thoughts on this

There was a rumor for some time now, that a large capacity disc will be developed, but nothing on-topic has proven so yet. Now, Hitachi-Maxell is planning to organize a showcase this week, and present to the open public their new 300GB holographic CD’s. It does seem like this is Science-Fiction, but I can assure you it’s not.

We are all asking ourselves what would be the advantages and disadvantages of this removable media. Within advantages, I could mention the transfer rate of 20MB/s, the high capacity and the multitude of operations that could be fulfilled with the help of it, like large amounts of backups, uncompressed media (movies and audio) that could be easily edited later, and many many more.

Disadvantages? The price, of course. It’s expected that one holographic disc will cost somewhere between $100 and $125, and the optical drive that will be able to operate them will go up to $15.000! And wait, there’s more for the future. In 2008, InPhase plans a second-generation 800GB rewritable optical disc with data transfer rates of about 80MBbps, with plans to expand its capacity to 1.6TB by 2010.

Amazing. What do you think about the high capacity disks? Share your opinion with us by leaving a comment behind.

the article was read from here

if your testing this from a hd then no your letter z isnt the same as a cdrom so, unless your testing your setup out on a virtual enviornment then you need to replace your cdrom variable with a wpipath variable to test it out on the hd,, but when you switch it out to use on a cd then you can use the cdrom variable
