  1. that was friggin amazing, god ive never seen anything like it with paint, i wish my hand would draw lines that good with a mouse, but when ever i try it always comes out wavey,, that man nothing more then amazing

  2. does any one know how, or any small guides on making custom themes for thunderbird ? i wanna toy with the gfx alittle in it to see what kinda theme i could whip up,

thanks for any help you could give or point me in the right direction, im currently googling, but drawing up blanks for far

  3. are you saying your pc feezes up altogether ? or just wont restart/ shut off ?

if it wont restart / shut off, its more then likly because a few apps wont shut down all the way, so if its not the pc freezing then,, try alt-ctrl-del to see what processes are running at that time to see what the hold up is,,

    and if its just freezing,,

have you defraged it recently ?

scanned for viruses and spyware ?

    updated all drivers ?

checked to see if a new bios is out for your mobo and if so try flashing it

those are just a few ideals to check out

if you can give us alittle more information,, we might be able to come up with or give better answers to your reply

  4. The new HD it is. Later I will get the ram. Then when this box wears out, I will build another system and this will go into it along with another gb of ram.

My 120 runs out of room. I am considering a 300 gb is this a decent size?

yes its a very nice size, you should be able to get a nice affordable 300gb at newegg.com,, for a great deal

just make sure your new hd, dosnt turn at 5400 rpm,, stick with a 7200 on a minimum if you can , of course if your mobo can handle it sata is always nice,

  5. well i have 4 5.25 bays and 4 3.25 , what im trying to do, is use 5 hds but im also trying to make this case as silent as possible im keeping 1 cd-rom in the top 5.25 bay and ill leave a fan controller/lcd in the top 3.25 bay

what im gonna do is take 3 hds and suspend them in the 5.25 bays with soeing machine elastic to silent the motion in them (vibration).

but as for the 3.25 bays, i cant suspend the other 2 hds with out removing 3 of the 3.25 bays and creating some type of 5.25 bay conversion, that way i can suspend the other 2 hds, doing this should help aload on vibration and be the ultimate in hd silencing

i know this is unorthodox but the result im looking for should be worth the hassel ,,

so far im thinking of modding the 3.25 cages to make it only hold 1 3.25 bay which is the fan controller / lcd

then creating 4 bars, jb welded or tac welded in place to create a type of 5.25 bay, then by doing that i can use the bars to tie the elastic in place to suspend the remaining hd's

over all by doing this mod i think it should only cost around 15 bucks or less usd at the most,, the parts will be a jb weld, some aluminun bar brackets, and a few yards of soeing machine elastic, ,

  6. hi im trying to do an interesting project by turning an old case into a nas raid 5 setup, and well im trying to suspend all the hds and in order to do this i need to modify all 3.25 bays except for 1, so i guess you can say i have to mod the 3.25 cage as well,

well any ways off to my questions

does any one know if there are any premade 5.25 cages for sale, if they even have any that arnt attached to the case it self, other then hot swappable cages

im thinking of just trying to use a type of sheet metal to make this , and then tac weld it, if need be.

does any body have any thoughts on this, maybe a better way to go about this,,

and btw the reason im not removing the 3.25 bay all together is because i have a lcd fan controller / temp reader and it fits perfectly in there.

maybe this is a stupid ideal but, i just like building things, so hit me with your thoughts if any one has any,,

    thanks

  7. was using a micro atx mobo, i found it big, but then again

Uhm... that is a mini ITX mobo. And on his forums I have a post about a s754 mini ITX mobo that is available, too.

actually the sizes are different in the 2,

    Mini-ITX is 6.75" square

and Micro ATX is around 10 x 12, so yes thats a big difference

  8. geesh forgot to answer the post in my last post so here goes on what i can tell you

Hello all I am currently looking to buy another hard drive soon, and this time around I am considering using some form of NAS for my needs. I have some hopefully basic questions that some may know the answers to.

Can I attach a regular internal hard drive to my router (Netgear WGT624) some way? This would be ideal because I would not need a new router and internal drives are cheap. Probably not I am guessing :-p

Can I 'convert' an internal hard drive into an external one and plug it into a router either through USB or ethernet in some way? Again this is cheaper, but it would give more options about what hard drives I can use, and should give the ability to convert it back into an internal one if I want.

An issue I have heard some people having with NAS is support for only FAT32 partitions, I want to know if I can have an NTFS formatted external drive on the network. And of course have read and write access?

What are the disadvantages to using NAS? Transfer Speeds? Cost?

    Thanks :)

yes you can convert an internal hd to an external, theres no difference

the advantages with nas in a raid setup, is speed of course, but it all depends on what type of setup your interested in making,, raid 0 is the fastest but it yeilds no security meaning if 1 hd messes up, kiss the data good bye,

raid 1 is alittle better but more secure,, but most ppl are liking raid 5,, but it envolves atleast 4 hd's with it, you get speed as well as security, if one drives goes bye bye, just pop in a fresh one and off you go, your safe,

but yet it is pricey but anything can be built and especially affordable if your a good shopper and if you have spare parts,,

,, heres a guide for doing an affordable raid 5 setup

hope some of my advice helps you out

  9. Why not build a mini ITX form factor computer, and put in some hard drives yourself? just an idea, like mashie did. Check it out, it's really worth it!

i like the case, i was working on building a raid 5 system, just for file storage on a private network, but the thing i didnt like was using a micro atx mobo, i found it big, but then again i shouldnt really matter, but i just like smaller sizes, thanks for pointing this site out, it will definatly give me some more ideals

  10. hi welcome to the forum, sorry your right youve posted in the wrong section, but i do believe what your asking is possible, but youll have to more then likly set it up manually by disabling a good few system services, but as for what im not sure, if i had my guess youd shut off everything that a gamer would do, since that falls under multimedia,,

take a look at here fore a gaming set up, the reason i say this is because its probably the closes thing to multimedia hope it helps m8 good luck
