  1. i personally think it's very Mac inspired. microsoft techs took a look at OSX and all they saw was the purty grafix.... they neglected to notice it's supreme functionality. microsoft should have followed Apple's lead and used a BSD core...something more revolutionary instead of just fancy UI. and to all the people saying they're going to be upgrading to vista for it's support of newer technology....WHAT newer technology!? (besides dx10, that doesn't count)
  2. i can't imagine what could be better about it. xp has a bulletproof stack. i remember way back in the day an issue with fragmented igmp packets, but i think that was pre-xp.
  3. w00t! i finally found the page after searching the net for an hour and a half. i had to resort to using google to search msfn, because the forum search really sucks. here's the page i was referring to if anyone's interested: http://www.ngine.de/index.jsp?pageid=4176
  4. i found a link to a webpage a while back here on MSFN that gave nice instructions on how to install to a USB drive. i've searched the forum a zillion times and haven't had any luck with google. please post a link if you can. i know the method involved using usbstor.sys as a txtmode driver, but there were a few other steps.
  5. that's perfect, thank you DigeratiPrime. p.s. corone, i didn't ask for a dictionary... and it turns out you were wrong anyways, lol. and since you answered my question with "I don't know any other program with media stuff integrated than the ones you mentioned above." that means my intent was clear. in the future don't troll, or if you do at least add something meaningful to the conversation in the process.
  6. you're probably right. if you post what the hive should be changed to you'll make life easier for nuhi and probably increase the chance of it getting included.
  7. best tip for shrinking your installation media: after i nlite i shave another 150mb off my cd with winnt32.exe /noreboot details here: http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=9478
  8. not really solved, but i did determine that it's not nlite's fault.
  9. SourceCode

    nLite 1.1

i don't want any new features. i just want bugfixes!!
  10. BTS driverpacks solve this issue by having each driver in a separate subfolder. not sure how nlite's integration works because i've never used it, but perhaps that will give you an idea.
  11. well since i said "media players" i think my intent was clear.
  12. it'd be nice to first know what exactly it is you're trying to accomplish.
  13. total crap. 100% marketing with little thought behind it. i think it's going to drive away more customers than it attracts. this is just profiteering along the lines of windows ME. i bet they realize their mistakes long after vista and base the successor on their server version. (again)
  14. i know of MPUI (Mplayer), Media Player Classic, and VLC but i know there are more out there. anyone care to add to the list and share their personal preference?
  15. if you're afraid of wiring (though it is really only a couple wires): http://www.laptoptravel.com/Product.aspx?ID=1785
  16. heh, that's strange. it's not a problem with the API itself though, because i use that same API in another app and it handles the file like normal.
  17. i get this error if i use bridged networking in VMWare, but when i switch to NAT it goes away. does ms virtual pc have a networking option like that?
