MUST READ: Frequently Asked Problems with Their Solutions
Vishal Gupta replied to Vishal Gupta's topic in Windows XP
If everyone will start searching on net for the solutions, then what will be the use of these forums? I created this thread to help new members so that they can easily find solutions of some common problems. Also it may help moderators bcoz they'll not need to close/merge topics frequently for these already asked problems, as every member will look for the problem in this thread before starting a new thread. Anyway, I'm happy that at least a few ppl like my efforts. -
^^ Wow. Thank you so much. @Woomera No problem mate. I'm glad that you took your time and posted your comment. Thanks.

MASTER TUTORIAL: Make Your Windows Super Fast
Vishal Gupta replied to Vishal Gupta's topic in Windows Tips 'n' Tweaks
Exactly. The registry tweaks have nothing to do with Internet speed. They are just to increase menu speed, shorten hung application kill timeout, etc. Its just a co-incidence that you faced slow net speed after applying those tweaks. -
MASTER TUTORIAL: Make Your Windows Super Fast
Vishal Gupta replied to Vishal Gupta's topic in Windows Tips 'n' Tweaks
Thanks buddy. Thanks for your comments. I completely agree with you. One should always set a service to "MANUAL" instead of Disabling it. If the OS needs a service, it can start the service if its set to Manual but if its disabled, there will be problem. -

MASTER TUTORIAL: Make Your Windows Super Fast
Vishal Gupta replied to Vishal Gupta's topic in Windows Tips 'n' Tweaks
I didnt suggest to disable services using "msconfig". I suggested to disable startup entries. Also I have mentioned to disable animations, etc. in 2nd point and services in 5th point. -

Guys I have released an Icon Pack for Windows XP recently, which will change XP default icons with Windows Vista icons. So you’ll experience the high-resolution Vista icons in XP. Download Link Download Link How To Use: 1. Download the RAR file and then extract it. 2. You’ll get a folder containing the icon pack files. 3. Download “Stardock Icon Packager” from here: http://www.stardock.com/products/iconpackager/ 4. Now open the “VistaVG.iconpackage” in Icon Packager and apply it.

Hi guys In this tutorial, I’ll tell about various system files in Windows Vista, which can be hacked using Resource Hacker / Resource Tuner to change the look of Windows dialog boxes, menus, login screen, boot screen and many other things. So here we start the tutorial: Above are the new system files/locations in Windows Vista which were not present in earlier versions, like XP. But if you want to change look of various dialog boxes like RUN, Progress, System Properies, Startmenu and Taskbar Properties, etc. Then you’ll have to edit the same system files which you used to edit in Windows XP. The difference is, now those files dont contain the resources but their .MUI files do. So if you want to edit RUN dialog box which was present in “%windir%\System32\Shell32.dll” file in XP, is now present in “%windir%\System32\en-US\Shell32.dll.mui” file in Windows Vista. So in following list, I’ll tell you where all those files are present in Windows Vista: All those files are present in any of following 2 locations: To know about those various system files containing dialog boxes, menus, etc. resources, please visit following link: TUTORIAL: List of Files to be hacked using Resource Hacker TUTORIAL: List of a few Locations in Windows XP System Files to be Hacked using Resource Hacker All those file names and resource locations are same in XP and Vista. I hope you guys will like it.
