As long as the application runs in the Windows 2000 extended kernel you do not need to directly support Windows 2000. For example, Roytam's browsers work on Windows 2000 with the extended kernel even though he does not target Windows 2000.

The normal registry editor can load hives from other systems and make them generally accessible for reading and editing. I use the TorchSoft Registry workshop, but the loading is the same. I haven't messed with permissions. I guess it is probably fine to edit System or Administrator(?), but maybe other users have their own numbers within the target system. Only old Hiren's Boot CD makes sense to use on XP-grade computers. These developers should have not hijacked the name for their new boot medium (that doesn't fit on a CD). Now everytime I tell people to use Hiren's Boot CD, I have to add an explanation and sometimes face resistance from them to using an old version. Get both 10.6 and 15.2 where they only have free software (apart from Windows).

Mypal 78 now runs unofficially on Windows 2000 SP4 with Update Rollup 1 without Extended Kernel by using just wrappers, thanks to @EAZY BLACK! Proof

Okey I have gone to rust 1.62, to update patch slightly. Again the cmake gasket caused me troubles, uh what a stupid stubborn s*** it is, why anybody would use it at first place, why use unnecessary redundant tools at all - make only more complexity and then troubles of course. The one feature is the open source, so may rebuild from scratch with xp support restored, while this is totally not possible with msvc. On windows the same and to build all the stuff, actually I built with it old mypals 29. My be not so good as old msvc, which I liked before ucrt bloat.
