  1. Update notification! As already reported , the Root Certificates have been updated and are now from 26-03-2024. Here are screenshots of both updaters: Therefore, my self-created, offline Root Certificate Updaters in the section 11.2.4. Downloads related to Root Certificate Updates (in the first post of this thread) will also be updated if I can somehow trick this crappy forum post editor. Cheers, AstroSkipper

  2. You mean it's in the hands of Shakey's Pizza? Shakey's Pizza bought Microsoft?

  3. It was a joke. Clearly, the title is misspelled, not to mention the overall misleading, clickbait style name of the topic and improper, poor English grammar. No articles to support that "theory", nothing.

  4. Install the extension SQLite Manager 0.8.3.1 from the Classic Add-ons Archive! This extension can manage sqlite files such as your webappsstore.sqlite inside New Moon. BTW, my file is only about 12 MB. With SQLite Manager 0.8.3.1, you can view all entries, add new ones, edit or delete old ones. My webappsstore.sqlite files in different profiles are of different sizes from 96 KB up to 12 MB.

  6. FYI, due to the fact that the MSFN forum editor is totally broken and hasn't been working properly for months, especially when it comes to inserting of links , I wasn't able to edit my main article ProxHTTPSProxy and HTTPSProxy in Windows XP for future use the last weeks. Unfortunately, I have to revise and to change some content in this article to be hopefully able again to edit it and to add the links for the new offline Root Certificate Updaters. This all is very annoying and time-consuming.

  9. News about my mod uBlock Origin Legacy! I have of course noticed that there is considerable interest in my mod uBlock Origin Legacy. I have therefore addressed the problem of updating an existing installation of my mod (1.16.4.32 and higher). With the upcoming release of uBlock Origin Legacy 1.16.4.34, it is now possible to install this version over an existing installation of my mod. I am still in the testing phase, but everything looks good and seems to work so far. Cheers, AstroSkipper

  11. It's the latest "gaming trend". They reissue old games with artificially bumped up reqs. Probably deserves a dedicated topic on how to deal with it. I don't know how many gamers we have here,

  13. Thanks a lot! This is a clear indication for disproving my theory that Hyper-Threading is responsible for lower memory consumption. Hyper-threading is not the culprit.

  14. Very interesting is the difference between #2 XP x86 safe mode and #2 XP x86 normal with regard to the values of the Private bytes column. In normal mode, you have similar values such as @NotHereToPlayGames and me, but in safe mode, much lower values such as many others here. At the next opportunity, I will also test 360Chrome in safe mode. And the difference between #1 XP x64 normal and #1 XP x64 fresh install (saved partition, NO drivers/software that aren't from the official CD) with regard to the values of the Private bytes column makes me suspect that certain drivers, e.g. for memory management, could be responsible.

  15. Hello @IXOYE! Could you please be so kind to perform your test once again with Hyper-Threading disabled? If the values did not change significantly without activated Hyper-Threading, this would be a clear indication for disproving my theory that this feature is responsible for lower memory consumption. Thanks in advance!

  17. Realtek's HDA codecs DCH driver for Windows 10 x64 requires version 1703 and later. But Microsoft update catalog offers 6.0.9239.1 for Vista x64 and later. The problem is Realtek only offers customized DCH driver, which means users have to modify driver if PC manufacturers no longer offer new audio driver for old motherboards. I need to modify two files. HDXxxx.inf for HDA audio driver, and HDX_xxx.inf in ExtRtk_xxxx folder for software component extension. It is better to install HDX_xxx.inf first before installing Realtek Audio Console, then I can install other software component like RealtekHSA and RealtekService. Finally, I have to install HDA audio driver so Realtek Audio Console can identify it. Because 1607 does not support extension of DCH driver, the 6.0.9239.1 driver from MUC is the only way to make PowerDVD 22 to play 24-bit LPCM audio. Anyway, SupremeFX S1220A (device id 1168) supports 24-bit audio on UHD Blu-ray.

  19. On some driver bundles it's simply not detected correctly by GPU-Z. But if the programme folder is present in the right location, the software will work. ProgramFiles/NVIDIA Corporation/Physx (for 32 bit OS). ProgramFiles (x86)/NVIDIA Corporation/Physx (for 64 bit OS).

  20. I'm not surprised. It means you got a re-issued 555 disguised as 710. I once bought a card that was named "GTS250", in fact it turned out to be a bit overclocked older model 9800GTX. Nothing to worry about. Those are of similar performance level.

  22. Yes, absolutely fine, I also did that BIOS mod by reflashing to 3700. There was (still is?) a ready made BIOS file from the original Quadro card circulating the internet.

  23. Blurays and films that are "remastered" by id*ots is nothing new. They are too bright and acid, agree. It's the same as those newly remastered audio CDs during the ear of loudness wars. https://dr.loudness-war.info/ I just can't find the proper English jargon name for such releases. Brightness wars, maybe?

  24. On the other hand, FX 1700 is a direct copy of a very common 8600GS. I personally reflashed it in 2007. GT version should have a different VRAM though. So maybe a good BIOS for 1800 exists. If flashed properly, not drivers editing would be needed. I'm still afraid the 9 series is too new. https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/geforce-8600-gs.c1767

  26. Don't replace 'em, don't even think of it! I did, and it was a waste of time/money. Bluray is "remastered" by id*ots. It's too bright and acid, it loses all the original charm.

  29. Wonka film review is rather good, but "Timothée Chalamet is a bit miscast". I'm not surprised, I felt the same. https://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/films/reviews/wonka-review-timothee-chalamet-b2457979.html Independent is a credible source with good critics, I don't want to argue with anyone, just accept this fact. Those who don't agree, I'm sorry, you aren't critics from Independent, but you of course have the right to your individual view on this.

  30. Intel Graphics DCH drivers 31.0.101.2115 and later include AcxHdAudio related files which require 1903 and above. Besides, the iGPU of CML does not use AcxHdAudio. So MSHdaDac.inf must be removed from iigd_dch.inf before installation. To pass HDCP test with Lindy DP 1.2 to HDMI with HDR active converter in PowerDVD 22, I have to set LG 27GL850-B to DisplayPort instead of HDMI before PowerDVD 22 completes HDCP test. Then I can watch UHD Blu-ray at 4K23Hz with HDR over the monitor's HDMI. When TrueTheater HDR works, 4K23Hz becomes 4K60Hz. In 1607, the iGPU of CML decodes HEVC by DX9 DXVA. My motherboard does not support Blu-ray audio content protection, so PowerDVD downsamples the audio to 16bit 48kHz.

  31. Quite some time already passed, so it would've been known, yet to this date, the developers declare - it still didn't happen. Will it, ever? We don't know. "Contrary to popular belief, AES-128 is not broken in practice by quantum computers" https://blog.cloudflare.com/post-quantum-to-origins/
