The smart fan is one with a thermal sensor. As the temperature increases the total resistance of the thermal sensor wire decreases. Therefore more current and voltage is passed through and speed increases.

beware, those fans (at least the first one) are 30 dba, which is very noisy. you may want to have a look at other ones... i don't know much, but choose one between 21-23 dba. also check cfm values (the higher the better).. check out fans from vantec, zalman, coolermaster, spirecooler and thermaltake... i don't know much brands..

you may also want to try a fan controller (there are cheap ones around) so that you can control the speed therefore the noise

hope it was helpful

Lol as long as you have at like 3 fans incuding your CPU fan it should keep it cool enough. But better safe then sorry. In mine have have 4 fans 3 of them with blue neon light. :)

Papst are the most silent ones. It's not a hype IMO... I thought it was... untill I got 2 of them!

Yes, they are the best, but they don´t have nice lights in them as I remember, just plain black ones...

It will accept 3 pin connectors, 3rd pin will be the "RPM-pin" so you can see how fast it’s spinning.

Also, there is no problem with any fans except for "alpha black label 7000-7400rpm fans, they ask more amps.

If you don’t need to see the RPM of a fan, then you could go for a 4 pin adaptor or fan.

Ever tried watercooling??

How about using Liquid Nitrogen to cool off your processor? ;)  Its possible! ;)

That´s what I also asked him/her on his Quiet PC" question. Thermaltake makes small water cooling systems for a nice price ;)
