cluberti
Install 927891, don't reboot when prompted:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927891Then install 932494, and reboot:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/932494Scans should be much quicker, and system response should be much better during scans. Wicket20519
Hmm, let me know what happens. I had a similar problem on a laptop I had to reformat. I got so fed up with trying to install Office that I installed OpenOffice.org instead!
Access Denied
Office 2003 + XP + Microsoft Update = problems. It will also cause a reboot to lag about 1-3 minutes after installing it. Stick with Windows Update.
cluberti
It shouldn't anymore after installing the previously mentioned updates - they were designed to fix those specific Windows / Microsoft update issues.
Access Denied
My mistake. I was just speaking from experience before I upgraded to Vista here recently. Thanks for clearing that up for me/us.
steveblue
applied the two patches, wasnt asked to reboot ?? , rebooted the system anyway, fired up IE7 went to update was asked to install an activex to use it, did that, still the same problem have installed office 2003 on windows xp pro , loads of times, have a few running with no probs with updater, just this one pc Edited June 5, 2007 by steveblue
cluberti
If the problem still exists after installing 927891 and 932494 and rebooting, you might want to call Microsoft and create a case under 927891 not working with the security group (it will be free).
