MMMMM, just updated office 2003 through the office website, installed all updates, restarted my pc, tried running windows update through IE7 , this time it completed the scan and showed the updates available :), but did so very slowly

so a step in the right direction :)

Hmm, let me know what happens. I had a similar problem on a laptop I had to reformat. I got so fed up with trying to install Office that I installed OpenOffice.org instead!

Office 2003 + XP + Microsoft Update = problems.

It will also cause a reboot to lag about 1-3 minutes after installing it. Stick with Windows Update. :thumbup

It shouldn't anymore after installing the previously mentioned updates - they were designed to fix those specific Windows / Microsoft update issues.

My mistake. I was just speaking from experience before I upgraded to Vista here recently. Thanks for clearing that up for me/us. :)

If the problem still exists after installing 927891 and 932494 and rebooting, you might want to call Microsoft and create a case under 927891 not working with the security group (it will be free).
