You are right Jaclaz, am making newbie's mistake, but honestly I'm always open to learning.

Ok I shall go for the attended one, but I am not sure how to add numerous numbers of Windows hotfixes (which are installed in my PC) in to the slipstream CD?

Any advises please?

Well, nlite should take care of that, unless you have deleted or cannot locate the files downloaded, in which case you'll have to make a list of the files you have and re-download them.

However, there is no NEED for the repair install to work to have ALL updates current, the only strongly suggested ones are having same SP level, and then let Windows Update do it's work, read this should it not start working after the Repair:

Obviously, if we are talking of the "other" CD, the UNATTENDED one, the more updates are on the CD the best it is, a VERY convenient method is this one (RyanVM's update pack):

Another thing (that is, if I'm understanding correctly what src2206 is trying to do):

Shouldn't the first step be to take the old 40gb hard drive and place it in the new machine to see if there are any conflicts? If it boots up just fine, then all he would have to do is clone it and maybe install a couple drivers.

And what about just using the File and Settings Transfer Wizard?

I'm really sorry to have caused you such an inconvenience, I'll try my best not to repeat this error, which may have potentially surprised a large number of people, to which I extend my apologies.

Yep, and what if it does not and, by any chance, a conflict between drivers arise?

There is the concrete possibility to have a hard disk that does not boot on EITHER system.

The recommended way is to always have an IMAGE of the hard disk, should anything go the wrong way, you re-IMAGE the drive and start anew, otherwise NEVER attempt booting a HD with XP on it on another machine.
