neo Posted May 7, 2007 Posted May 7, 2007 How do i backup my HP computer activation, like i do with my XP? and can a Home Premium activation work with Ultimate?Grab Ur Product Key using any keyfinder....Install Home Premium using any disc putting Ur own key. Ur Windows Vista has already activated by Royal OEM factor.U can't activate Ultimate using Home Premium Product Key.
dexter.inside Posted May 8, 2007 Posted May 8, 2007 if you want to backup a Vista that was previously activated, do the following:- sysprep with the -activated option- capture the partition with ImageX- overwrite the new WIM over your \SOURCES\INSTALL.WIM on the vLited DVD.You can also use Norton Ghost 12 to save a image of your system.
nam265 Posted May 8, 2007 Posted May 8, 2007 Ohh so does that mean I can backup a Vista image that's customized? Upon install, Vista will look exactly like it was backup?
nam265 Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 @dexter.insideMay I have some sort of guideline for that? I found sysprep.exe but when I try it in CMD, it said the command -activated isn't avaialbe.
dexter.inside Posted May 9, 2007 Posted May 9, 2007 (edited) it seems the -activated option is no longer available since beta, it now detects by itself if yours is OEM or not. Try it without parameters, and maybe with the licensing service disabled. I am still waiting for them to send me the OEM edition of Windows Server 2008. When I'll have something appropriate to experiment on, I will be able to provide more specific info. Edited May 9, 2007 by dexter.inside
dexter.inside Posted May 26, 2007 Posted May 26, 2007 Thanks for the head up. PM me when u have more info. There will be a "OEM Guide to vLite" soon in which I will also include this issue.
sp00f Posted May 27, 2007 Posted May 27, 2007 (edited) I just grabbed the $OEM$ folder from the sources folder on my OEM DVD.And added that to my new DVD.And put my OEM serial in my XML file.Works fine for me. Edited May 27, 2007 by sp00f
