yahamar6 Posted April 13, 2007 Posted April 13, 2007 Hi, i have a fujitsu SATA hard drive for the laptop. I want to check it for disk errors and such.. Fujitsu does not provide one on their website, is there a alternative way to check for drive errors..
nitroshift Posted April 14, 2007 Posted April 14, 2007 There's one on Hiren's boot CD.I'd try to *not* post about Hiren's boot CD as it's warez, and that's not well regarded here...
Andromeda43 Posted April 14, 2007 Posted April 14, 2007 M$ provides "Chkdsk" for that purpose, in every install of Windows. For a tech, there's always "Spinrite 6" from Steve Gibson (www.grc.com).It's NOT free, but every tech should have a copy. I got my first copy in the late 80's. Cheers!Andromeda43
jaclaz Posted April 15, 2007 Posted April 15, 2007 Just for the record, here:http://hddguru.com/content/en/software/there is, besides other related utilities, MHDD a very goot FREEWARE program:http://hddguru.com/content/en/software/2005.10.02-MHDD/MHDD is the most popular freeware program for low-level HDD diagnostics. MHDD supports these interfaces: IDE, Serial ATA, SCSI. Also there is a possibility to access an USB storage, there are drivers for emulation (USB->SCSI). This software can make precise diagnostic of the mechanical part of a drive, view SMART attributes, perform Low-level format, bad sector repair, different tests and tens of other functions.jaclaz
