cratix Posted March 26, 2007 Share Posted March 26, 2007 I have a compaq m-2000 notebook, when i start it up a black screen comes up that says start winows normal or safe mode and stuff like that.. i try to load a windows xp disk in but it wont work because there is a password in the bios and i dont know what it is... it gets stuck at that 1 screen... anyone help? Jakebo Posted March 27, 2007 Share Posted March 27, 2007 Sounds like they gave you defective equipment. I would take it back, if they can't fix it they need to replace it. Unless of course it worked fine at first and has started having problems since you got it. In which case I would suggest calling Compaq Tech Support. Archdeacon Posted March 30, 2007 Share Posted March 30, 2007 If you have a BIOS password and want to remove it (this will reset all BIOS defaults) you must remove the internal battery (the small round one) for at least 30 minutes after which the BIOS will reset itself and the battery should then be refitted.
