Thanks Fredledingue. That's the specific reference by MDGx I was referring to. So Q950749 is the latest update then?

I always find version control the most confusing, frustrating, and aggravating aspect of MDGx's and other updates. I'm very grateful for all their hard work but it seems like there ought to be a better way to track and maintain control of all the latest Microsoft security updates and hotfixes that they implement.

EDIT: Okay, I just read your edited post. Thank you! Yes that always confuses me too - when both the latest and outdated update(s) are listed. Adding to that confusion is the overlap between MDGx's individual component updates vs. the cumulative updates provided by maximus-decim and others. Again, there must be a better way to keep track of all of these versions.

Sorry about the confusion...

I was absent from this forum for a while, so I am not up to date with the latest.

But I've updated the 98/ME patches/fixes section [11-13-2009 = long list!]:

http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=46581

where you can read about what's new [+ details].

Thank you MDGx! Yes I saw that you updated the main Win9x/ME update thread. And I didn't mean to sound critical. It was just an observation that it's extremely confusing and frustrating trying to sort out all of the endless Microsoft (and other) updates vs. the numerous unofficial updates from you, maximus-decim, et al. so that one can be sure that they have the latest update. If I come up with some system to help in that regard I'll be sure to post it here.

Unfortunately, like u said, this is a community run forum, and because of that, most of us here have only limited spare time for updating our projects and reading forum posts, which [if u ask me] is time consuming. :(

That's why is difficult to keep an up-to-date centralized database of all updates.

I maintain a list of all the updates not included in uSP 3.0 BETA 4.

98 SE SP 3.0 BETA 4 - last page

(check pre-last pages if you don't find it)

This list is based on MDGx's list of updates and compared to what is in uSP.

I hope this helps reduce the confusion.

There are no links in this list, because I did it quickely. If there s some demand, I'll do a list with the links, infos and all. Maybe on my wensite etc....

I don't maintian a list of missing update from MDCU update pack because of lack of time and because I use the uSP. But it's interresting to note that some updates un the MDCU are never mentioned in MDGx's list nor in the uSP include list and vice versa. Perhaps because they have different versions of wear another name, or simply because 2 or 3 updates slipped through the fishing net.

Thank you Fredledingue! Now that you mention it, seems like I did see that a long time ago when I was surfing through the MSFN forums. I'll review it and see how it goes.

File links are broken and more stuff on top of that is broken thanks to Microsoft removing 90% of their legacy downloads such as .NET 1.1 SP1 update redist, MDAC and JET stuff, most QFE's.  We need to replace autopatcher and similar packs for 2017 and include/modify a lot of fixes that haven't been visited in a while, especially considering Microsoft's stance since ~2013 when stuff started disappearing.
