i'm running xp on my daughters machine. my son placed an admin password. i need to load software for the girls, he can't remember the password. help.

Oh, I see.

I never needed/had the occasion to use it, usually resetting the password is more than enough, however the size of Rainbow Tables appears to be impressive:

SSTIC04-5k is a large one (720MB) for machines having atleast 500M of RAM.

SSTIC04-10k is a smaller table set (388MB) for machines having less than 500M of RAM.

The time to download one of them on a non-DSL connection (and even on a DSL one) should be quite relevant.

Maybe it is easier/faster to use pwdump2/3/4/5/6:
