erpdude8 Posted March 12, 2007 Author Posted March 12, 2007 MDGx, you can now use the old link to the official MS Root Certificates Update again:http://download.windowsupdate.com/msdownlo...en/rootsupd.exe(this wextract package is now 6.00.2600 which should work on Win9x/2000/ME/NT4)also found it here:http://www.download.windowsupdate.com/msdo...9b8ad0f8d1a.exe(different name, same package)
xtrm Posted March 12, 2007 Posted March 12, 2007 Sorry for this question, but I couldn't find a quick answer - what IS this root certificates stuff all about, what does it, what is it for, why should I update it etc.? I've never really heard of it before this discussion here began. Could somebody quickly tell me what this is all about?

Prozactive Posted May 30, 2010 Posted May 30, 2010 (edited) For reference, as discussed in this newer related thread, I performed a DOS file compare check of the registry before and after installing the latest rootsupd.exe update and here are the results.EDIT: Updated with zipped file of DOS file compare data.rootsupd.zip Edited October 24, 2010 by Prozactive

dencorso Posted October 25, 2010 Posted October 25, 2010 i download many root update packs but none of them work.I try links form this topic and old one. What I suppose do? If I use that txt file to update registry that work? What do you mean "don't work"? This link provides a file that sure does work. Tested it last yesterday. Notice, please, that it's the same link offered in the 1st post.
supremeracer Posted October 25, 2010 Posted October 25, 2010 (edited) I doubl click file and nothing happen.I also try exract and run but this time I get missing store name error. Edited October 25, 2010 by supremeracer
dencorso Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 Of course it works! The fact it gives you no feed-back from it doesn't help, I know. But work it does. If you had actually read this thread before posting you'd seen this:For reference, as discussed in this newer related thread, I performed a DOS file compare check of the registry before and after installing the latest rootsupd.exe update and here are the results.EDIT: Updated with zipped file of DOS file compare data.rootsupd.zipIt shows how to actually prove to oneself rootsupd.exe does work. However, this approach of using Regshot 1.8.2 is only useful when you do a reg shot before running rootsupd, then run it, then do the second shot... Since you've already run rootsupd at least once, the registry entries are already changed, so you'll see no difference between the shots. Wait for the next rootsupd, and then do it. It'll convince you it actually works. But meanwhile, believe me, don't worry, because rootsupd has updated your root certificates.
supremeracer Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 Ok I got it's work.Reason I run this update evry time try the acces my inbox from msn 7.0 I get certificate error and I think rootsupdate maybe this fix it but not.Is there any solution from this?
Prozactive Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 (edited) FYI, here are the DOS file compare check results of the registry changes made by the latest 28 Oct 2010 root certificates update (thanks MDGx!).rootsupd_102810.7z Edited November 16, 2010 by Prozactive
