kartel Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 I found a ABIT UL8 and was wondering if anyone has any info on this setup.I want a faster chip and want to keep my ram and videocard.Seems like it would be ok........?
nitroshift Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 I know Abit make good boards, but never used the one you mentioned...
eggie Posted January 21, 2007 Posted January 21, 2007 I was in the same situation as you a while back. I got a Abit AV8 off of eBay and it's great. Still got my old video card and ram but a x2 4600 in there as well. Brilliant
kartel Posted January 21, 2007 Author Posted January 21, 2007 (edited) Yes, good call on the AV8.The UL8 has a ULi chipset which Nvidia just gobbled up so I think the Via chipset would be a better choice. No need for the ecc ram huh ? Only thing is that the UL8 is 50 bucks still in the box new....... Edited January 21, 2007 by kartel
puntoMX Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 (edited) The ULi chipset is better then the VIA chipset, beleve me...EDIT: I don´t know what AGP card you are going to use this time, but if it´s less then a ATi 9550 or nVidia 6200 then you could leave the card out and buy a motherboard with nVidia 6100 (410) chipset, for example the NF-95 from ABIT.Later you can upgrade it with PCI-E cards (16x and 1x)...And yes, they are like 65 US$ and up, but it worth it! kartel Posted January 22, 2007 Author Posted January 22, 2007 uli is out of buisness though.......hmmm
puntoMX Posted January 22, 2007 Posted January 22, 2007 No it´s not, it´s part of nVidia now, like ATi...Again: WHAT VIDEO CARD DO YOU USE?
