TravisO
Look into Samsung, they make the "best bang for the buck" monitors out there. Their 20" 1600x1200 monitor (with pivot support) is a mere $300usd online. If you really want size, Dell just announced their $329usd (will probably be $299 street price in 3 weeks) 22" monitor that's 1680x1050. TravisO
IMHO that Samsung is the best price vs quality out there. And if your budget is 300uk then you can almost afford to buy two, go dual screen, and have them pivoted (aka rotated) which would give you the equivalent of a 30" display.Aside from that upcoming Dell screen, pretty much anything larger than 20" gets dramatically more expensive than it's worth, especially when you can do dual screen. Here's a picture of what I'm suggestion:http://snipurl.com/172lg Edited January 10, 2007 by travisowens

Polarman
Hi,I just replaced my CRT for a LCD. After some searching around, i finaly chose this:http://www.viewsonic.com/products/desktopd...eries/vg2030wm/i paid 375 (Canadian $) you'll have to do conversion.20 inch widescreen (1680X1050), 0.258 pixel pitch, 5 MS, crystal clear image, games are great, picture and videos look great. extremely satisfied.I got so much room on my desk now!My only negative comment for this thing is the onboard speakers are not very high tech. They sound like cheap 20$ speakers. But i can live with that.Hope this helps. Edited January 11, 2007 by Polarman

TravisO
Also keep in mind that the response time is not absolute, it's relative. What I mean is DO NOT THINK that the ViewSonic can update faster because it's a 5ms and the Samsung is 6ms.If you want to learn more read: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Response_time#LCD_monitorsand make sure to read the link part about "Input Lag"Trust me, that Samsung is far superior to that Viewsonic and cheaper. BTW, all monitor mounted speakers are crap, I would never buy a monitor that has a pair. Also, I should point out I pasted the Samsung 204BW model, which was widescreen, and if you plan on rotating the monitor, then you probably don't want widescreen, they make the same model in a normal 4:3 layout, which is the 204B modelhttp://www.shop.com/op/~Samsung_SyncMaster...96?sourceid=298 Edited January 11, 2007 by travisowens
vinodh
The Acer AL2017 20" is quite good. 4:3, not wide screen. 8ms. I bought one a couple of months back. Excellent. Mine's silver. You might be able to get a black one, though. Saw it for £163 and upwards on the net.

TravisO
Even if you can afford it, you wouldn't want that 100" screen, it's only 1080p, and that's vastly lesser resolution than a 1600x1200 screen.
