kartel
I just bought a 1650pro 512mb and I really dont see the big deal.I read that it has only 4 pipelines?I see the 9800pro has 8 pipelines and 256bit memory bus vs the 1650's 128bit.I really need some help, I dont think the 1650 is as good as the 9800pro, or is it? puntoMX
Okay, so it´s AGP, why don´t you go for a 256MB 7600GS?EDIT: There is a new article of VGA cards on Toms Hardware. Read it before you swap yours . Edited December 12, 2006 by puntoMX
RJARRRPCGP
Wow I just took a close look at the 1650pro and it looks like crap!cold solder everywhere and the GPU has chips and scratches!! Taking it back........I heard that the Radeon X1xxx video cards are good, but watch out for the SEs. The SEs are known to have slow VRAM.The 9800 is considered outdated by today's standards and may actually use more power than a X800!I heard that Radeon X800 Pros use less power than a Radeon 9800 Pro. kartel
I have limited choices.I can only find cards at futureshop here and they have a 9800pro 128mb and the 1650pro 512mb and I think a X700pro 256mb in AGP form. Also 1600pro, 1300pro and 2006 all in wonder 256mb and 9250 256mb
kartel
The 1650 is a lemon!I get huge lags and freeze's.I think its the 4 pipes is bottlenecking. The 9600se I have has none of that........wtf ati?
glocK_94
Difficult to find a benchmark comparing those two but knowing a 9800Pro is about as powerful as a 6600GT (talking about games in general). And that a 1650Pro is about as powerful as a 6600GT, you've got two cards that overall should theoricaly be the same.Except the 9800Pro is yesterday's high quality and 1650pro today's low quality. So the 9800 could have more brutal power compared to a 1650 which however supports modern technology (shaders...).Can't you order on the internet to have a larger choice? DigeratiPrime
wasnt the 256MB version of the 9800 Pro an older model?
puntoMX
Dude, take a look at the X850XT or so... They are getting cheaper by the day and will have the same performance as a 7600GT but then in AGP. It will be the MAX you can buy on AGP for its price, let’s say 140 US$! kartel
In this case, older is better* Eight parallel rendering pipelines * 256-bit DDR memory interface
