Aaron
Right, pretty weird. Today I've used Gosh's reducing size of source method CD for the first time, and WU confirms 810217 to be installed. Gism0 - Do you have a [Component] entry such as accessopt=off in winnt.sif?EDIT: Tried out other PCs that didn't have 810217 installed, and WU reports nothing. Looks like MS pulled it off today. Aaron
It just does. Even Virtual PC has made a difference to some people regarding USB support. (hasn't affected me though)By the way, you don't need that long a list, most components are off by default (IIS for example)

Lost Soul
hi im having trouble installing these 2 updates,, first off i get an error when trying to instal updates Q817787 which is the wmp updateand the other update is Q823718these files are in the same .cmd file but the thing is how can i have these 2 fixes update and not mess up the rest of my instal because these files are installing then forcing my pc to restart and when its doing this its always in the middle of still installing my programs, so the instal never fully instals because when installing these 2 hotfixes it forces the pc to restart before everything is installed,,,now am i doing some thing wrong here ? is there a way to fix this, because i think some thing miust be wrong because it dont let my cd fully instal everything,,,if any one has any ideals for me pls help..thanks
XtremeMaC
Q817787--> thats because you need to install wmp9 beforehand..Q823718--> use this: Q823718_MDAC_SecurityPatch /C:"dahotfix.exe /q /n" though I believe this is the old one???grab the new one(I'm confused? this is the new one I guess Q820761)2 things you can do about it. Either use Gm's Special Mdac which can be found on my website. or q820761.exe /C:"dasetup.exe /q /n" /q
cybpsych
Hi! This is my first post on 'perfecting' the Unattended XP skill =)I have collected the following Recommended Updates for Windows XP:Q322011.exe (/q /o /n /z)Q327405.exe (/q)Q327979.exe (/q /o /n /z)Q810243.exe (/q /o /n /z)Q814995.exe (/q /o /n /z)Q820291.exe (/q /o /n /z)Q821253.exe (/q /o /n /z)Q822603.exe (/q /o /n /z)Q826942.exe (/quiet /norestart /o /n)Q829558.exe (/quiet /norestart /o /n)Q831240.exe (/qb)The switches worked 'silently' so they should be useful in unattended mode.Also, there's this Microsoft .Net Framework SP2 (Q321884) which should weigh in around 6.4MB. Link is here.I have doubts though.Where should I put these hotfixes in?Should I put them in "svcpack.inf" or seperately in [GuiRunOnce] or in "RunOnceEx"?Here's my "svcpack.inf" looks like:[Version] Signature="$Windows NT$"MajorVersion=5MinorVersion=1BuildNumber=2600[setupData]CatalogSubDir="\i386\Update"[ProductCatalogsToInstall]KB826939.cat[setupHotfixesToRun]update.exe -q -nQ330994.exe /Q:A /R:Njs56nen.exe /Q:A /R:NQ810217.exe /Q /O /N /ZQ816093.exe /Q:A /R:NQ823182.exe /Q /O /N /ZQ824105.exe /Q /O /N /ZQ824141.exe /Q /O /N /ZQ824145.exe /Q:A /R:NQ825119.exe /Q /O /N /ZQ828035.exe /Q /O /N /ZWMP9MM2.exeQ828026.exe /Q /O /N /Zqchain.exeDX9NTopk.exeAnd here's my "RunOnceEx":cmdow @ /HID@echo offSET KEY=HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnceExREG ADD %KEY% /V TITLE /D "Installing Applications" /fREG ADD %KEY%\001 /VE /D "Preparing Installation..." /fREG ADD %KEY%\001 /V 1 /D "%systemdrive%\install\prepare.cmd" /fREG ADD %KEY%\005 /VE /D "Microsoft DAC 2.7 SP1 Update" /fREG ADD %KEY%\005 /V 1 /D "%systemdrive%\install\Q823718.exe /T:%systemdrive%\install\tmp /C:\"%systemdrive%\install\tmp\dahotfix.exe /q /n\" /Q" /fREG ADD %KEY%\010 /VE /D "Microsoft DAC 2.8 RTM" /fREG ADD %KEY%\010 /V 1 /D "%systemdrive%\install\MDAC28.exe /T:%systemdrive%\install\tmp1 /C:\"%systemdrive%\install\tmp1\dasetup.exe /q /n\" /Q" /fREG ADD %KEY%\015 /VE /D "Advanced Networking Pack" /fREG ADD %KEY%\015 /V 1 /D "%systemdrive%\install\Q817778.exe /Q /O /N /Z" /fREG ADD %KEY%\020 /VE /D "Microsoft .NET v1.1 Framework" /fREG ADD %KEY%\020 /V 1 /D "%systemdrive%\install\NetFramework\netfx.msi /qb" /fREG ADD %KEY%\025 /VE /D "Microsoft TweakUI v2.10" /fREG ADD %KEY%\025 /V 1 /D "%systemdrive%\install\TweakUI.msi /qn" /fREG ADD %KEY%\030 /VE /D "Adobe Acrobat Reader 6 Full" /fREG ADD %KEY%\030 /V 1 /D "%systemdrive%\install\AdobeReader6\AR6.msi /QB" /fREG ADD %KEY%\035 /VE /D "Importing Registry Tweaks" /fREG ADD %KEY%\035 /V 1 /D "REGEDIT /S %systemdrive%\install\RegTweaks.reg" /fREG ADD %KEY%\040 /VE /D "Cleaning Up and Rebooting" /fREG ADD %KEY%\040 /V 1 /D "%systemdrive%\install\cleanup.cmd" /fEXITThanks in advance guys! XtremeMaC
whatever you feel likeyou can do either one. but not 3 of them at the same time u can use svcpack and [GuiRunOnce] and RunOnceEx at the same timejust don't put the same stuff in them. cybpsych
I'm worried that these recommended updates won't execute in "svcpack.inf" ...I guess it'll be safe to put them in "RunOnceEx" BTW, how should i put MS .Net Framework SP2? Do i extract it just like Framework 1.1?
Aaron
BTW, how should i put MS .Net Framework SP2?
