hello,

i have an original oem installation cd that is unattended for the cd key only the rest is punch in values and go..

the problem is the instalation is broken if i install windows xp from that cd my laptop with which this cd came with will lag and be slow and other problems i have bothered dell for like a month about the slowness they neglect anything is wrong...

anyhoo if i use my legit cd key that i extracted from winnt.sif on my original oem cd and bash it into my custom cd it wont work so i googled the issue and found something

-what cd are you using instead of the OEM ?

-is there no key on the computer (sticker) ?

-search the forum for "OEM", there is a lot about this sort of issue.

i am using my oem key on my custom windows installation cd and it does not work

if you read the post i extracted the oem cd key from winnt.sif file its the key my oem cd uses

What version of the Installation files are you using?

OEM XP Pro/Home setup files, or Retail XP Pro/Home Setup files?

I know they differ (had this kinda cd-key problem b4) with my installation sets.

check SETUPP.INI in XPCD, it looks like this

[Pid]ExtraData=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Pid=xxxxxxxyyy

make sure last three characters are OEM

if not change these(yyy) to OEM and try

U have made wrong solution.

In ur custom Disc check SETUPP.INI and make sure last three characters.
