rado354 Posted November 8, 2006 Author Posted November 8, 2006 Thanks arabianhorse If anyone come with a HowTo - even better
ajua Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 as far as i know i've never came across a new app that needs the new framework. but is great to hear that the switchless installer is already made. thanks.
sk8er_boi Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 do we need fw1.1 and 2 after installing this? If so , framework will be a big trouble on us. Like 100mb
anonymous_user Posted November 9, 2006 Posted November 9, 2006 i read that .net framework 3 = .net framework 2 + vista components.based on that, i think .net v2 apps should work with the v3.
n00b Posted November 9, 2006 Posted November 9, 2006 So the installer will install NFX2.0 at the same time? I guess I don't need a seperate exe for v2 then...
sk8er_boi Posted November 9, 2006 Posted November 9, 2006 if it only contains fw2 and vista components then why do we need to install it on xp?
CoffeeFiend Posted November 9, 2006 Posted November 9, 2006 if it only contains fw2 and vista components then why do we need to install it on xp?"Vista components" is not "stuff for Vista only". What they mean is what's needed for you to run WPF (a.k.a. Avalon) apps on your XP box and such e.g. the new NY Times reader (very nice). All you need is the old 1.1 for the older .NET apps, and now 3.0 (which already includes 2.0).
newsposter Posted November 9, 2006 Posted November 9, 2006 if you don't have Vista and Vista-aware applications, why bother with .net v3??
MagicAndre1981 Posted November 9, 2006 Posted November 9, 2006 don't install untill a programm needs it
CoffeeFiend Posted November 9, 2006 Posted November 9, 2006 if you don't have Vista and Vista-aware applications, why bother with .net v3??If you have Vista, you already have .net 2 & 3 installed, so it's irrelevant. If you don't use apps making use of WPF (or WCF or WWF or WCS) yet, then sure, you can wait 'till it happens. It's really just a matter of time.
