Winrar Extraction

Featured Replies

Could someone please explain to me the process involved with raring files, and extracting them silently on install?

Simple create a SFX (.exe - File) and use the -s switch.

eg rarfile.exe -s

That's all.

I was fiddling with the SFX file just a little while ago. Compressing all my hotfixes at high compression saved < 1mb >:)

Does that requre Winrar to be installed before i run it?

No you don't need it installed. It's selfextracting. :)

p.s. you can use /S to install silently.

Its good for userprofile stuff too, where you have different usernames, because you can extract the files to %userprofile% and then the folders relative to that :)

Thasts due to the fact that hotfixes are already highly compressed data.

I would reccomend trying the SFX methoud with raw files and data, it gets much better results.
