Nerwin Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 Hey guys,When I seem to plug an External HDD in to my usb 2.0 port and when the drive is on for like 20 mins or more its comes up saying Delayd Write Failer, Why is that? Problem with my Computer?
bonestonne Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 it might be the cable, the housing, or the drive itself.the drive might be corrupt in a way, if you have parition magic, you should run that and see if it comes up with any drive partitioning errors, i know 8.0 will fix it, although sometimes it doesnt start because it doesn't recognize the drive letters, i have no idea how to fix that.you might try defragmenting the drive, but other than a corrupt file or something im not sure what else to say.
Nerwin Posted October 9, 2006 Author Posted October 9, 2006 (edited) No This happens When ever I plug in an External Drive, And there all differnent, I have 4 and they all do the samething, Only on my computer. Edited October 9, 2006 by computerMan
bonestonne Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 there may be a problem with your USB ports, or where they're seated on the mobo, thats always worth checking out, especially if its the front ports.
bonestonne Posted October 9, 2006 Posted October 9, 2006 its probably an issue with the USB port...im not sure what would even cause that problem.
Nerwin Posted October 10, 2006 Author Posted October 10, 2006 Yes, I think its my USB ports on my computer because I tried it on a differant computer and it worked fine. So how can I this problem?
EchoNoise Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 Might want to check for updated USB Drivers for your mainboard. It could possibly be that the external drives require USB2 and you have USB1 onboard.
Nerwin Posted October 11, 2006 Author Posted October 11, 2006 No I have USB 2.0 and I have the recent drivers
CoffeeFiend Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 Hadn't bothered to jump into what would likely be a long thread, but just for fun: via chipset by any chance? (or perhaps nforce?)
puntoMX Posted October 11, 2006 Posted October 11, 2006 It could be the voltage (power) of your ports so the signal isn’t clear enough. Looks like a bad motherboard design although other devices work.I would return you external box and get an other model, if that doesn’t work get an other mobo or look for an other external solution.
