What's for certain is that you don't need it when including the security hotfix WindowsMedia10-KB917734-x86-ENU.exe, which includes a newer version of wmp.dll. FIX: The Windows Media Player process may unexpectedly quit when Internet Explorer is configured to use administrator-approved ActiveX controls was not the culprit ... removing all WMP HFs resulted to the same concern ...
