Super-Magician Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 Hmmm...can't find KB920883 on Microsoft's site.Oh, well. Thanks for the list!!
Super-Magician Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 @the_guy, should I have the hotfixes KB914440 (Network Installation Tool) and KB902344 (Update for WMDRM-enabled media players) in my HF folder? They appear in the "Optional Updates" list for Windows XP SP2 on Windows Update.
the_guy Posted September 17, 2006 Author Posted September 17, 2006 Yes. I also think Tomcat should add them to his lists. I won't be as they're not High Priority.the_guy
Super-Magician Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 (edited) Do you know if they'll be immediately supported by HFSLIP?Oh, and on a side note, do you know where I might be able to find a list of fixes for XP MCE? Edited September 18, 2006 by Super-Magician
the_guy Posted September 18, 2006 Author Posted September 18, 2006 For XP MCE, I'mnot sure where you'll find a list. Not sure if it's fully supported by HFSLIP yet.the_guy
Tomcat76 Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 They appear in the "Optional Updates" list for Windows XP SP2 on Windows Update. Is it possible that this only appears on WU for English versions of XP SP2? I just went to update a Dutch XP SP2 system with the latest hotfixes on Microsoft Update and all I got under "Optional updates" was WMP10 and .NET 2.0...

Super-Magician Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 Thanks. Is it possible that this only appears on WU for English versions of XP SP2? I just went to update a Dutch XP SP2 system with the latest hotfixes on Microsoft Update and all I got under "Optional updates" was WMP10 and .NET 2.0...This probably is true. However, the KB902344 update is an international update. Probably doesn't occur unless you have a DRM-enabled media player attached to your computer. Does anyone else have this? And are you planning to add it to your list? Also, for those interested: in order to install KB902344, you must also install KB891122.
Super-Magician Posted September 19, 2006 Posted September 19, 2006 And another question: KB891122 contains a copy of wmfdist95.exe, a redundancy copied by wmcsetup.exe. What's the significance of this? And HFSLIP will automatically use the latest version, right?
Tomcat76 Posted September 19, 2006 Posted September 19, 2006 Also, for those interested: in order to install KB902344, you must also install KB891122.That's a problem because KB891122 is not supported. HFSLIP doesn't do anything with wmfdist95.exe if it is inside a package; it only handles it when it's "loose" inside the HF folder.
the_guy Posted September 19, 2006 Author Posted September 19, 2006 Actually, 902344 requires wmfdist95.exe.the_guy
Super-Magician Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 According to the KB902344 article, KB891122 is a prerequisite. However, I just saw that it contains wmfdist95.exe and that file only (I was looking at the list of files in the KB891122 article without realizing that those were inside wmfdist95.exe).Thanks for the clarification .
