Internal 3.5'' USB Hub?

Hi all,

I have run out of usb ports on my new pc, and my pci slots are all full.

I was wondering if there was such a usb hub that would fit into the 3.5'' space in the front of my pc, but i want to find one that would run off of a power cable inside the pc, not one that relies on another usb port to plug into.

Can any of you guys help?

I don't think there is - but if it doesn't plug into another USB port, how will it communicate with the PC if it only has a power cable?

so you would want something like a card reader ^^^ that plugs into the usb headers of ur mobo? but u dont need cards, u just need a bunch of usb ports?

unplug one item, get a USB HUB and plug in the hub. then plug in whatever you took out in the hub, and you have more ports.

but honestly, my PC has 2 ports, somehow i manage to have one open. and if you look, i have a lot of hardware on this thing.

There may be such an animal, but it's going to have to plug into a USB port "Somewhere".

If you have one open on the Motherboard, you could use that, otherwise, just do what's already been said.

Plug a hub into one of your existing ports and then plug all your remaining USB devices into the hub.

Don't turn something so simple into something complicated. Keep it simple!

When i was searching around in my house for something completely different, i came across a pci usb 2.0 hub, so i can take out the dial-up modem which i realise i don't need now i have broadband, and put that in instead

Yes, you can, and if i'd known what you just said about the modem....I'd have suggested the same thing.

I carry a five port USB / PCI card in my Kit all the time, just for that one customer who's flat run out of USB ports. It's a quick fix for the problem without having something hanging out of the PC.

I would've just suggested taking a standard external USB hub and making it 'internal' by putting it inside the case...

lol, why not. im just lucky that my mobo has 6 usb ports, although i only use 2 of them...
