mazin Posted August 29, 2006 Posted August 29, 2006 @ ironsideIt looks like there are different packages for the same version. It's no problem as long as we can get rid of GTB. I also got rid of FGTB.
ironside Posted August 29, 2006 Posted August 29, 2006 I used this mirror to download flashget from and no google toolbar is installed using the /S switch on this versionhttp://www.download.com/FlashGet/3000-2017...&tag=buttonWell It works for me anywayGood luck mate
MHz Posted August 29, 2006 Posted August 29, 2006 (edited) This topic is going like a dog chasing it's tail, but I will say this. On the FlashGet site, they mention to explicity use the new build 138 (I'm not a FlashGet user, so get me biased here). That is a minor version change, so is still v1.72 with bug fixes. Now, strange thing is that I just downloaded with a fresh browser cache, a version 1.0.0.0 but the additional properties has v1.7.2.0. This is totally wrong build number and is...well, you figure it out.Edit:More clarification Edited August 29, 2006 by MHz

dobbelina Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 Here's my take on it.If you have once installed FG, and also got the googlebar as an extra,de-installing it via "Add and remove programs" will still leave traces of the googlebar left in the registry.Perhaps the installer sees these "traces" and therefore think it is installed.Hence, on subsequent installations it wont get installed.I'mm gonna try it out and not use my un-installing apps that takes snapshots of the registry before and after.(which I always normally do)I used this mirror to download flashget from and no google toolbar is installed using the /S switch on this versionhttp://www.download.com/FlashGet/3000-2017...&tag=buttonWell It works for me anywayGood luck mateThe md5 of that file is identical to the one from amazesoft that has the googlebar.
ironside Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 Like you said google toolbar must still be istalled even after unistalling flashget or is installed with another program perhaps The flashget with the google toolbar had an seperate entry in add/remove programs sou you could uninstall it without uninstalling flashget so i presume if it has not got a seperate entry entry in add.remove then your problem must be elsewhere
LispWarez Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 just to clear all this s**t up. FlashGet DOES install Google Toolbar. but its also very easy to remove. just add this to your script after you have installed Flashget.regsvr32 /u /s "%PROGRAMFILES%\Google\GoogleToolbar1.dll"and that will remove the toolbar. Easy
Alex Posted August 30, 2006 Author Posted August 30, 2006 @ ironsideUsed Your link and this google crap is in there.Remove goole is easy BUT reg entire remains and that's all Goole need.Pitty that there is no switch.Alex
ironside Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 In that case why dont i have a "Google" folder in "program files" after i've installed flashget ?Oh!, You don't half make it complicated for yourselves, When it could be so easy!Have fun!
MHz Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 Extracted contents of the installer I downloaded and do have a gt.exe (Google Toolbar installer).%UNINSTALL_PATH%added.wavall_done.wavdefault1.GIFdone.waverror.wavfgiebar.dllflashget.chmflashget.exeflashget.exe.manifegt.exegtapi.dllImageBk.inijcbul.inijccat.iniJccatch.dlljcchs.inijccht.inijccze.inijcdax.inijcdeu.inijcell.inijceng.inijcesp.inijcfin.inijcfra.inijcheb.inijchun.inijcita.inijcjpn.inijckor.inijclat.inijcltu.inijcnld.inijcnor.inijcpls.inijcpob.inijcptp.inijcrom.inijcrus.inijcslo.inijcsrl.inijcsvk.inijcswe.inijcthi.inijctur.inijcukr.inijc_all.htmjc_link.htmLeftback.jpgLicense.txtlogo_bg.gifmirrors.lstmymirror.lstNormal.iniNormal.jcsReadme.txtSky(Gradient).iniTable.jcsTestBk.jpgunreg.infwhatsnew.txtXP_Luna(Gradient).iXP_Luna.iniThe Flashget.exe is 1.7.2.0 in the resources, version 1.7.2.128 in the about window so the later matches the version recommended on their download page.
dobbelina Posted August 31, 2006 Posted August 31, 2006 I've done some quite extensive registry snooping, and has made a "flashget.cmd" that should delete all of the google crap:http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?s=&...st&p=553725PS. I updated it 2 minutes ago.
MGadAllah Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 The version exist in the website now does not containe a tool bar
ironside Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 To get rid of the google bar use this command:regsvr32 /s /u "C:\Program Files\Google\GoogleToolbar2.dll"That will remove it form IE and add/remove programsYou can then run a delte command to delete the google folder in program files along with the GoogleToolbar2.dll .Dunno why no one thought of that before !Have a nice day !
