I was playing a game yesterday, and my PC crashed so i rebooted and this came up:

I closed them all, and now this comes up over and over:

If anyone knows how to fix this, any and all help is appreciated.

Do a chkdsk first before rushing out to buy Windows.

Does your PC not come with a restore CD or partition?

McUpdate belongs to McAfee Internet Security. Is McAfee working? If not can you reinstall it?

Don't know about AOL file as I can't see the long filename.

Desk.cpl is the CP applet for desktop properties.

I don't know what the three have in common.

Lets try finding and replacing you corrupted files one at a time. Tell me what version of XP you have and I will post the uncorrupted files for you.

Here is

desk.cpl

mstask.dll

www.wpiw.net/downloads/destop.rar

unrar it and replace the ones in your system32 dir with these ones.

Note: you may need to use a small app called replacer and a reboot to do this. (Just google it)
