Jeremy Posted August 12, 2006 Posted August 12, 2006 Do a repair install on your system. That might fix the problem.

Takeshi Posted August 13, 2006 Posted August 13, 2006 Do a chkdsk first before rushing out to buy Windows.Does your PC not come with a restore CD or partition?McUpdate belongs to McAfee Internet Security. Is McAfee working? If not can you reinstall it?Don't know about AOL file as I can't see the long filename.Desk.cpl is the CP applet for desktop properties.I don't know what the three have in common.
Kelsenellenelvian Posted August 13, 2006 Posted August 13, 2006 Is your windows XP\SP2? If it is I will post my desk.cpl for you.As for the other errors it really does look like something aol related are you using aol?

Kelsenellenelvian Posted August 13, 2006 Posted August 13, 2006 (edited) Lets try finding and replacing you corrupted files one at a time. Tell me what version of XP you have and I will post the uncorrupted files for you. Here is desk.cplmstask.dllwww.wpiw.net/downloads/destop.rarunrar it and replace the ones in your system32 dir with these ones.Note: you may need to use a small app called replacer and a reboot to do this. (Just google it) Edited August 13, 2006 by Kelsenellenelvian
Takeshi Posted August 13, 2006 Posted August 13, 2006 Mstask.dll belongs to Task Scheduler, presumably something to do with McAfee too.
Knepper Posted August 13, 2006 Author Posted August 13, 2006 Thank you so much Kelsenellenelvianyou got my PC running perfect...faster than before...
