How to lock keyboard and mouse w/o screensaver

Hei!

I am new to this forum, so if this topic (almost sure) has already been discussed: forgive me (could not find it by using the search function?!)

We have some information screens in our open landscape and I just want to keep my colleagues informed on what is going on at the moment without allowing them to mess around with the computer.

I.e.: I would like to lock mouse and keyboard leaving screen unaltered and continuing to display data (real time data).

AFAIK this feature doesn't exist in any Windows product (maybe I'm wrong )

Maybe it could be possible with some third party app..Try to google it, hope you'll find what you need..

Two things come to mind.

1. Even if that's possible, how would you unlock it if mouse and KB are disabled?

2. Why not the low tech method, just remove the mouse and KB, assuming it's a desktop?

This was my first idea, just unplug and remove the keyb and mouse.

Thanks for your response.

The computer is in a seperate room (currently unlocked). Keyboard and mouse are wireless.

The "low tech method" of just removing keyboard and mouse might work best, but I want to avoid problems like: where are they, who has the key.

Using a software solution, it would just be necessary to send username and password to those colleagues who should have access.

just search for "transparent screensaver" on your favorite search engine... you'll find *tons* of answers... some are fancy (if seeing snow or rain falling is not too annoying for reading what is below ), some are more "professional" (ex: http://www.e-motional.com/TScreenLock.htm )...

As far as I remember, there's a thing to block keyboard and mouse but I can't remember what. :/

"Transparent screensaver" and the links above have helped me a lot.

Obviously there is no simple, free and "secure" solution (at least I know of at the moment )
