lameboyadvance Posted July 30, 2006 Posted July 30, 2006 I recently downloaded FFdshow 20060716 rev 2546, and when I went to install it it gave me a NT-only message.Any idea what the latest version to run on Windows 98SE is?Thanks in advance.
LLXX Posted July 30, 2006 Posted July 30, 2006 (edited) I have "ffdshow version Nov 11 2005 21:30:27 (icl 8, ansi)" - it works fine on 98SE.Have you tried a manual install?Edit: I've successfully run the installer for the version you mentioned (didn't finish it, as I obviously don't want to mess up an already working confiuration). Are you using a patched kernel or similar, which is giving the wrong versionnumber to the installer? Edited July 30, 2006 by LLXX
lameboyadvance Posted July 30, 2006 Author Posted July 30, 2006 Not as far as I know. I've patched one PC with 98SE, but don't think its this one.I downloaded my copy from free-codecs.com. Might be the problem.Where did you get yours from?
LLXX Posted July 30, 2006 Posted July 30, 2006 (edited) http://cutka.szm.sk/files/ffdshow-20051111.exe This is the one. There's a list of them here: http://ffdshow.sourceforge.net/tikiwiki/ti...Getting+ffdshow Edited July 30, 2006 by LLXX
lameboyadvance Posted July 30, 2006 Author Posted July 30, 2006 OK, tried that one and it worked. Must have been my version.
ivanbuto Posted July 30, 2006 Posted July 30, 2006 (edited) OK, tried that one and it worked. Must have been my version. When you look at http://www.free-codecs.com/download/FFDShow.htm, indeed the 2006-07-16 version does give the error message and does not want to install on Windows 98. (The SSE or SSE2 versions work. Also note that the non-SSE version is bigger in size, like 4 MB.)You can also go to this site for a version that works on Windows 98, and then of course the site given by LLXX. eidenk Posted July 30, 2006 Posted July 30, 2006 ffdshow-20060505-rev2546.exe is the one I currently use (non SSE). I can't find it anywhere for download ATM. Was on freecodecs.com before the current non SSE build which doesn't install. (A simple mistake with Inno Setup I think)You can easily unpack it with Inno Unpacker though :http://innounp.sourceforge.net/
