:hello:

I'll edit this post if someone(s) can give an explanation as to how one can create an exe from a cab file as some of us don't know how to. The very simple makecab command prompt does a nice job of compressing, however maybe one would also like to create an EXE out of a Win32 Cabinet Self-Extractor.

An example would be the WindowsXP 3D ScreenSaver EXE... which is a Self-Extracting CAB.

Any clues an hints as to how to create one? And maybe even how to include your own icon in it as well? ie. the ScreenSaver.exe Prog.

Press start>run>"iexpress">OK

U get a sfx prompt. It's easy and automatically compresses ur files with 7z.

Icon: Resource Editors??? Duh... :P I couldn't help saying that.

Very nice.... thank you :thumbup

I noticed you can't CREATE subfolders though.

I tried it to make an exe to execute to place my favorites links including subfolders to other links, but it only adds files and doesn't create subfolders..:(....ie. C:\Documents and Settings\xxxx\Favorites\Uploads...

If I remember correctly, isn't there a way to also add files AND folders?

how about how to create an inf file to execute msi installers so iexpress can read?

Nothing weird about that TD, it is a 7-zip compressed SelF-eXtracting archive.

It is not however an iexpress.exe created self-extracting cab file using 7z compression.

I just created the sfx w/iexpress and it's 7-zip.

Actually, at the moment, all we know is that on your computer, Explorer associates to it the icon of a 7-zip sfx.

We know that on my comp, iexpress makes 7-zip sfx's!!

Or maybe iexpress.exe was reshacked?

Edit: Did a file compare w/iexpress.exe from my windows src and one in system32. iexpress was somehow edited. Don't ask me. Hashes of course weren't the same but File Comparer 2.28 said that lots of stuff were different.
