I suspect that's the search index file, otherwise I can't think of what else would grow in size and reside in the System Volume Information folder.

Are you using Veritas Backup?

Just google for

there is a known problem related to "Shadow Volumes"

i have disabled the service but it wont let me delete the file!!

Have you tried to change the security permisson for the folder. On my computer, from XP before I

could open the system volume folder on my the hard drive that Vista is installed on it would not allow

me to open it. I then change the permisson for the system volume folder and then could acess that folder.

why would you try to delete this file? obviously it's a vital system file or it'd let you delete it.

I'd leave it be, and stop trying to defrag and using this as a full time operating system till it's fully released...

WOOOOOOOO

File removed....because a certain amount of files require the actual administrator to be logged on...its difficult to change permissions other wise

so i have a copy of Windows PE...i just booted it and right click>>delete....POOF

file gone :D

Cheers Gunsmokingman....for your help especially :thumbup
