Camarade_Tux
Hi, guys.Yesterday my scanner fell from my chair (50cm fall). It's not completely destroyed : the scanning part is working absolutely normally. The problem is the moving part; it is blocked at the middle of its way on the right side, but not on the left side. It seems like a minor mechanical problem but I don't know how to solve it.I'll try to post a picture/video asap. Thanks for your help. PS: this is a canon canoscan Lide 30. Zxian
Well... if it's just a problem of something being in the way, you could open it up and fix it. It sounds like you've got nothing to loose really, since if it's busted, it's busted, and if it's fixable, then you can fix it. New scanners aren't all that expensive anyways. Camarade_Tux
Zxian, there's nothing in the way. And in fact, I just realized there was probably no way to open it. You're right, nothing to loose. :/ New scanner are not that expensive but 60€ would have made a nice present. Also, I just plugged it again and the it moved a bit.I just checked it and it is likely there is a plastic thing, hidden by the scanning part, on the way and then, the rail could well be bent.If it is bent, I guess there is no way to fix it ? jaclaz
If it is bent, I guess there is no way to fix it ?Well, yes, it can be straightened back, but it's a Catch 22 situation, if you know how to straighten it you don't need to ask, if you need to ask you won't be able to straighten it....jaclaz
Camarade_Tux
Even worse : I think it cant be fixed. I was able to move the moving part and there is indeed a piece of plastic. The "normal" gap between this moving part and the piece of plastic is probably 0.5mm. Let's buy a new one. $$
