Which AV for 98SE

As a professional who still works on many PC's that run 98, 98/SE or ME as their OS, I remove the resource hogs like Nxxxxx and McAxxx from my customers PCs and install AVG 7.1 FREE for them. AVG 7.1 FREE is highly efficient at stopping the viruses and many Trojans. It's VERY user friendly and with it's scheduler properly set up will give the user a daily update and a daily virus scan, all in the background and with a very small hit on system performance.
I use AVG and it works nicely on Windows98SE.
Yes, I agree. AVG is about the best. (I tried Panda once - never again, it wiped out half a dozen programmes and I'm not convinced that there were any viruses there.) Edited by celtish

I'm all for NOD32 due to its small footprint and Centralized Management...

NOD32 for years is best AV on the market.

And it is one of the smallest resource hogs from them all too.

some comparisons:

edit:

note how many viruses AVG missed - 745 vs. NOD32 missing none ( 0 ) !

Anything else but NOD32 is just very distant second...

nod32 for sure, amazing antivirus.

Go with NOD32 if you can afford it. for those who want freeware AV, get Avast or AVG.

At least these three antivirus apps still support Win9x OSes unlike the more popular and commercial softwares like Mcafee and Norton which they've dropped 9x support
