deathwarder
I have a spare pci-x slot, and a spare pci slot, can a pci-e graphics card go at a slower speed in one of the pci or pci-x slots? I have a spare pci-e card and wanted to add a third monitor to my setup.
spazmire11
unfortunatly, no a pci-e card cannot be put in a pci or pci-x slotif you want a third moniter badly pci video adapters are really cheap now < 50$
deathwarder
well its just I remember an article I read saying that you could put them in and the card would just disable some channels, guess I was wrong.
Aegis
I think you read putting a PCI-E card into a faster rated PCI-E slot.
deathwarder
ok, I remember, I read about putting a pci-e 16x card into a 1x slot, is that possible?
Aegis
No. You can only do it the other way around. You can put a 1x card into a 16x slot, but a 16x-slotted card will not physically fit into a 1x slot.
