More information:

I installed windows XP 2 times, I tried every version of MSN Messenger with the same problem! I'm not using a firewall or something, I even turned off Windows Firewall! I did some full system scans with adaware personal... After a few minutes of Not Responding, my msn messenger goes to the log-in-screen because the connection was stopped. Then I log in and it becomes not responding as before!

I really hope someone here can help me! pl0x

i would say you probably got a corrupt copy of MSN Messenger - re-download and try again.

just a thought, does the inbuilt Windows Messenger wok ok? if yes just use that, unless you specifically use teh feature of MSN Messenger

Sorry,

Windows messenger works fine but I really need MSN Messenger!

As you read my topic, :}:no: , you would have seen that I tried every version of MSN Messenger, so I have reinstalled MSN Messenger because I tried every version... :D

Sorry for my poor explenation of the previous but im Belgian.

re-installing is not the same as re-DOWNLOAD from M$ and then re-install

your english was fine in your explaination.

For installing of older versions you first need to uninstall the current version and then install the older. I always did this process and did the whole thing twice. So when I uninstalled MSN Messenger version 6 or lower (I don't remember the lowest version I tried), I installed MSN Messenger 7.0 afterwards so it counts as a normal reïnstal. Meh

Sars! :w00t:

ps: You could have helped by looking at my HijackThis log and noticing that I had IE 6.0 installed! Then you would have said: "You need to install IE 7.0, maybe that helps."...! Downloading internet explorer 7.0 now, first I'm gonna eat some fries...

i use IE6SP2 with MSN 7.5 installed on XPSP2 and they work perfectly fine together.

The hijack log means nothing to me, though a quick scan shows stuff that loads at startup and they look familiar and appear as such to be safe.

un-installing and re-installing does not always solve an issue if the file you are using to install from is corrupt, hence the suggestion to re-download it. However if your happy that the file is perfectly good and not corrupt, i'll leave you to it

You seem to have some trojan and keylogger running! In particular:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = c:\secure32.html
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = c:\secure32.html
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = c:\secure32.html
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = c:\secure32.html

Those are signs of a browser hijacking, Google "secure32.html" and you'll see for yourself...

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [tgcmd] "C:\Program Files\Support.com\bin\tgcmd.exe" /server /startmonitor

Looks suspicious. If you know what this is, then leave it alone.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Microsoft tool] C:\WINDOWS\system32\mstool.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Microsoft Office] C:\WINDOWS\system32\msvcp.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [drsmartloadb] c:\\drsmartloadb.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [pst] C:\WINDOWS\system\memaker2.EXE

Definitely malware.

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [CU1] C:\Program Files\Common Files\VCClient\VCClient.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [CU2] C:\Program Files\Common Files\VCClient\VCMain.exe

Spyware.W32.SurfSidekick

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [IECheck] C:\WINDOWS\IECheck.exe

Suspicious.

You also have some other unneeded items in the Run keys, they are not malicious but if you want to speed up your boot time I can list those too...

Use Ad-Aware SE v1.06, Spybot v1.4 (picks up a LOT more than Ad-Aware) and M$ AntiSpyware or WIndows Defender (assuming you have a legitimate copy of XP). Be warned, Windows Defender will list the common "180Solutions" spyware as "Moderate" as where the AntiSpyware lists it as "Critical". This is because the company cut a deal with M$, paid them money to change their minds about that spyware. Not much worries, though, 180Solutions doesn't get past Spybot. ;)

However, I have XP SP2 + software firewall and a router and MSN 7.5 worked fine for me. You need to clean out the malware, then I think it will work for you. Also, do a virusscan. Kaspersky or NOD32 will clean it out for you.

Ahhhh,

Finally some good, nice help...

I'm currently on my fathers laptop but I will try removing the sh*t from my computer soon. Thanx for the help in advance, guys!

Sars! :w00t:

ps: I do have a "legimate" windows xp license, well, you can look it a few ways... It's a legal copy that I bought with legal money in a legal shop  . But it's a version thats delivered with a pc u buy in shop and I bought my parts in pieces and composed it myself so it's illegal too... On the cover stands something like:

"This can only be given for free with a computer and cannot be sold." I bought it in Germany because everything's cheap there and this was even cheapier (dunno if thats spelled right) than the cheap stuff of Germany :thumbup . I'm not gonna download anymore virus scanners (I bought a cheap Norton 2006 in Germany but I uninstalled it and the cd is at my grandfather's) except spybot... Maybe :)

Thanx for all the help again

we all try, i did notice you said you had "install windows xp 2 times" so took this to mean you had formatted the hdd not just re-installed over the top of an existing installation twice, and you say you had run adaware as well,

but at least you have something things to go with

WinXP Box is at my grandfather's too  .

How do I format a hard drive in WinXP without using partitions? I searched manyyyyy fora for this but never found it... :thumbup OMG THIS FORUM RULES!!! :thumbup

Consider using Windows Live Messenger http://ideas.live.com and download from there.

If you took time to watch teh vid I posted about my problem, you haven't probably posted this reply... I hate people who don't read post very good and just reply to get their post count up

Well, this is off-topic, but as long as your CD/DVD ROM drive is set as your first boot device in your Boot Priority options in BIOS, then just put your CD in, boot from it, and there you go. I'm assuming you know what to do.
