hougtimo Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 Hi,Over the last couple of days, our home router keeps disconnecting. all the lights stay on as if everything is fine, but non of the computers are able to connect to the router, for example when pinging the router it will simply time out. We have 3 wireless PCs and 3 cable-connected PCs ... I get the same problem on all of them. If turn the router off for 10 seconds then turn it on again everything is fine, for a while anyway but then cuts out again. I did check (i knew i couldnt have been anything to do with them) with my ISP and there are no probs at their end. I have upgraded firmware on the router, and completely reset the whole system ... but it still does it. Is it a new router, or can it be fixed?HougTimoBTW : It is a Pheenet router, but i think it is based on a Linksys model, but I'm not sure.
Grunth0s Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 I had a similar problem a couple of years ago with a Belkin router. It turned out, in the end, to be a problem with the router not being able to handle the large volume of incoming requests that my P2P software was generating.Anything more than 100 connects in a 5 second period would lock the router up.I don't know if this has any relevance to your problem, but may be worth looking at.

rendrag Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 that would most likely be the case.... what brand/model router do you have?
hougtimo Posted May 18, 2006 Author Posted May 18, 2006 it was a pheenet one. i splashed out and bought a new one tho, and it works much better
LLXX Posted May 18, 2006 Posted May 18, 2006 It might also be overheating. Make sure it's well ventilated.
tain Posted May 20, 2006 Posted May 20, 2006 Also don't forget that after you load new firmware it is best to reload the factory default settings.
