Hi,

Over the last couple of days, our home router keeps disconnecting. all the lights stay on as if everything is fine, but non of the computers are able to connect to the router, for example when pinging the router it will simply time out. We have 3 wireless PCs and 3 cable-connected PCs ... I get the same problem on all of them. If turn the router off for 10 seconds then turn it on again everything is fine, for a while anyway but then cuts out again. I did check (i knew i couldnt have been anything to do with them) with my ISP and there are no probs at their end. I have upgraded firmware on the router, and completely reset the whole system ... but it still does it. Is it a new router, or can it be fixed?

HougTimo

BTW : It is a Pheenet router, but i think it is based on a Linksys model, but I'm not sure.

I had a similar problem a couple of years ago with a Belkin router.

It turned out, in the end, to be a problem with the router not being able to handle the large volume of incoming requests that my P2P software was generating.

Anything more than 100 connects in a 5 second period would lock the router up.

I don't know if this has any relevance to your problem, but may be worth looking at.

Ahh, I am downloading a 4.37GB file via Bittorrent - do you think it could be that?

Also don't forget that after you load new firmware it is best to reload the factory default settings.
