Sorry for that question

I feel that you will say that I'm goofy to ask it or for not know how to do it

but

I do not know how to delete some folders from an archive

I need to delete these folders and use the archive after the delete command

I searched the help for 7-zip and winrar

but did not find the solution

every time I get a message telling that:

Not Implemented

so can help me with that and tell me how?

Thanks

Which format is the archive?

If it is a .rar file, 7zip should NOT be able to do it, as it has ONLY UNRAR capabilities.

Deleting a file from a .rar file means actually re-creating the file WITHOUT the deleted file(s), though the operation is transparent to the user.

well

it is 7-zip archive format

it is the printer package in the following url

http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=61128

DriverPack Printer V6.03 /P

it contains many printers drivers and I'm only concerns with hp 1010 driver

so how to rebulid it again?

I will extract the archive to a new folder then delete all except the folder contains the drivers I need

then rebuild the new folder again

when I use the 7-zip application, what shall I do or what shall I choose to build it?

shall I post this topic in the in another place or it is ok to post it here?

Thanks

well

when I extract the 7-zip archive and delete what I do not want to use

then I will compress the new folder with the contents I want

what options I should set 7-zip to use when compressing the file?

because there are:

* Archive Format

* compression level

* compression method

* dictionary size

* word size

* shall I choose SFX archive or not?

* Shall I choose the solid archive option or not?

* shall I put any thing in parameters field?

your reply are much appreciated

THanks

From here, it looks like you're going about it all wrong.

(of course, I could be wrong) :no:

Extract the whole file to a folder on your PC, of your choice.

Take the part of it you want and save to a permanent folder on your hard drive or burn it to a CD and discard the rest.

Job done and you'll have a permanent copy of the drivers you need.

The defaults are fine, you can choose the 7z format instead of common zip for higher compression. But zip is easier if you ask me cos its more compatible.
